A little heavy, but..

A little heavy, but..
It's a little heavy. But it's like reading a hard cover. The big print makes a difference for older people with bad eye sight. I upgraded from a small Kindle and it was worth it. The scribe part is nice. I use it take casual notes with. It's not for work because it doesn't have features a business person needs, but if you just want to write things down after reading a book, it's perfect. Not very useful if you want to keep notes on a page.

Like the case, fabric, design and functionality with origami folds. Got a better deal by buying a “like new” one. If I take the case/scribe out of the house, I still put the whole thing in another sleeve bag. Magnets work well, but if you dropped the scribe with only folio case on it, might get damaged since edges are exposed and scribe might pop out. This was a personal thing, but I cut off the pen loop; like it better that way and the magnet holds pen in place on the side fine.

I really like this case for my Scribe. I bought a Kindle Scribe during the Prime Day sale, and I knew I needed a case for it. I have the Kindle case for my Paperwhite made of the same material and color, so I thought I'd give it a go. I was a little apprehensive about the flip-cover nature of the case and the pen loop being located where it is, but it turns out to make the most sense for a device of this size and type. Since the auto rotate of the screen is locked into either portrait or landscape, then switching handles while reading and the case is open is very comfortable. and since it's a flip case, the magnet on the premium pen locks on the side for easy access whether the case is open or not.
Also, another thing to note: the Scribe is attached to the case via magnets. I read other reviews saying the magnets weren't strong enough and there was worry about the Scribe falling out of the case too easily. But honestly, that sucker is in there fairly tight. I have no concerns with it accidentally falling out.
Also, there were some other reviewers showing the material on the case fraying quickly. I haven't had the folio case long enough to really weigh in on my experience with the Scribe, but I have the Kindle Paperwhite case of the same material and it's been solid for a while (more than seven months). I also have a fabric case for my Kindle 10th Edition that's years old that is still appearing almost like new. So I'm happy with my purchase.
Overall, I'm very happy with my choice. The cost is a bit more than I'd like to spend, but based on cases of the same material from years past, I'm happy with it.

I really do love this case and the reading positions it offers. The material is nice & seems sturdy. I also like (thanks to the magnetic attachment) that I can easily remove the Scribe from the case if I want to hold it without the case. With that being said, the Scribe secures to the case fairly well but the magnetic attachment isn’t as strong as an iPad Pro with Apple’s folio case. If you shake this case while it is open, the Scribe will definitely fall out. All in all a great case-but it could have stronger magnets (& it is also very overpriced imo).

I've bought 3 different cases for my kindle scribe but they are all too bulky and add weight. I broke down and bought this one because it is the slimmest fit one out there. The price is over the top, but at the end of the day its my favorite case. It protects the screen while in my bag and folds nicely to write or read. I also like the tab to hold the pen so it doesn't get lost in my bag or while carrying it. Yes its pricey, but worth it.

Between work and various personal writing/design projects, I used to go through a lot (and I mean A LOT) of paper notepads. I've been looking for an electronic solution that would allow me to keep my handwritten notes all in one place so I don't have to go rifling through 80 different pads (not to mention the waste, cost, and clutter of all that paper), but nothing really stuck out - products like Remarkable require a subscription, others don't have the tactile writing experience I wanted. The Kindle Scribe absolutely fits the bill. And it has only gotten more useful now that they pushed an update including different pen tips and allowing sub-folders.

Things I use it for/Pros are:
    - Keeping my handwritten notes organized and in one place.
    - Taking notes on PDFs (game reference sheets, academic articles, etc.).
    - Checklists and general organization.
    - Basic line drawings, sketches, and diagrams.
    - Reading PDFs and and my Kindle library.
    - Emailing myself notes/sketches as PDFs.

Things it is NOT good for/Cons:
    - You can do some basic drawing on this, but it is NOT an artist's drawing tablet.
    - Currently, you can only add note tags to Kindle books rather than marking over the page with handwritten notes. May be more of an issue for some than others.
    - It has a very basic web browser, but it is really not meant for surfing.
    - It is a little bit heavy compared to other Kindles - which makes sense given that it is larger - but this does make it holding up while reading in bed, for example, a bit awkward.

    Suggestions for future updates:
    - Additional standard note templates (hex graph paper, please!), and the ability to upload new, custom templates.
    - Ability to switch between templates within a single notebook.

Overall: A bit pricey, but so far not an ounce of regret regarding this purchase. May not be for everyone, so make sure it fits your needs before purchase (i.e. it is NOT a general-use tablet), but if your requirements are anything like mine, I highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Muy buena pero algo cara
Reviewed in Spain on October 8, 2024

I bought the Scribe essentials pack in November, with the blue denim Folio. The price for the folio by itself seems steep, but it's very reasonable if you wait for Amazon Day/Black Friday/Boxing Day pricing along with the bundle discount.

The more I used it, the more I realized what a good overall design it is:
    - Multiple kickstand angles make it useful in a variety of situations. It's very stable when standing up.
    - Surprisingly, the fabric didn't seem to soak up fluids, or get stained from handling.
    - Protruding edges and strong magnetic attachment make it surprisingly protective for an open-sided case, and help to keep the pen in place if you leave it magnetically attached to the Scribe.
    - Still, I found that the pen could get bumped off too easily when picking the tablet up, or walking around with it. That's when the pen loop is invaluable. It has just the right tension to hold the pen, yet it's easy to retrieve when you're ready to write.
    - The fabric is grippy, and makes it easier to hang on to the device when reading.
    - I wasn't sure about a top-hinged cover at first, but it turned out to be very accommodating when seated, writing on a table, lying on my back or on my side while reading in bed, etc.
    - BIG feature for left-handed users: you can flip your Scribe 180 degrees in the case, so the "grip side" of the Scribe is on the right, and the cover still works perfectly- not just as a cover, but as a kickstand. Access to the power button is just as good for right-hand or left-hand use. This is a major plus- seem my comment below about trying an Onyx Boox tablet with a side-hinged folio cover!

My only complaint about the fabric folio, was the way it was finished- the edges felt almost uncomfortably sharp, and as other people have reported, regular handling over a couple of weeks was enough to cause the edges to start fraying. I actually had to trim little threads off the cover with my nail scissors.

My reason for posting this review, is that I returned my Scribe before Christmas in order to try out a competing tablet from Boox. That experience further reinforced what a good little folio this is. The placement of the magnets on the Note Air3 C folio wasn't symmetrical- it was cumbersome, but stood firm in right-handed use. But when I flipped the tablet, the magnets were now in the wrong place- it wouldn't stand up at all!

I ended up returning the NA3C, and ordering another Scribe. Imagine how pleased I was when I unboxed the Folio (I got the blue denim again), and discovered that it has neatly rolled and heat-sealed edges! Picture attached...

The new edge treatment makes it feel more comfortable in the hand, and pulled threads shouldn't be a problem this time around.
