DHS/CBP/PIA-085 The National Customs Automation Program Global Interoperability Standards Tests

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is conducting new tests of Global Interoperability Standards, which use third-party commercial software platforms to collect trade data containing personally identifiable information. Supply chain participants (e.g., importers of records, pipeline operators, licensed customs brokers, manufacturers, shippers, suppliers, and producers) voluntarily submit trade data into a commercial software platform which converts the trade data into a verifiable credential format for submission to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Automated Commercial Environment Cloud system. The tests aim to provide the U.S. Customs and Border Protection greater transparency into the global supply chains of commodities and products entering the United States at ports of entry. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is conducting this new Privacy Impact Assessment to address the privacy risks in the collection, maintenance, use and dissemination of the information collected by the commercial software platforms.
