Tennis Tuesday Twofer

I've never exactly hidden the fact that I'm a bit of a bean queen, so it probably won't come as a surprise to you to learn that my, let's just say, head nearly exploded when I saw this photo of Spaniards Jose Juarez Caro (left) and David Jorda Sanchis. Plenty more to feast your eyes -- and the answer to the million euro question of whom I would pick if I could only have one -- BELOW.

The 74th: As the LGBTQ youth population doubles, number of bills targeting them triples

Now Streaming: I must say, Dekkoo has not let us down. For the past year we've checked in each weekend with the LGBTQ streamer and there's always a new quality title that's been added, like yesterday's "Perfect Endings," which is not only a fun watch, also boasts one of the sexiest casts I've seen in ages.

We're still waiting for winners in Beijing and Tokyo, but the ATP beef can't wait BELOW.

Song of the Day: 'Autumn in New York' by Billie Holiday

After a hectic work week left us barely enough energy Friday and Saturday for dinner (not complaining -- Damian is quite the cook!) and a movie at home (watched "Swiped" and "Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery" -- knew little about either and both were terrific), we were finally up for brunch al fresco this afternoon (Nice Matin is heavenly) followed by a stroll through Riverside Park on what was truly a spectacular day in the city. As much as I'll always adore Christmas in New York -- it was my first time here back in 1985, after all -- I must say there's nothing really better than autumn in New York! xo

Remains of the Day (09/26)

Matthew's Island: Do they float your boat?

Crazy Talk: At the risk of encouraging white apologists, I did have to laugh that Taylor Townsend -- who'd recently been on the receiving end of some comments that were widely called racist that the person who made them swore were being misconstrued -- has now been accused of making racist comments herself. Maybe the moral of this story is that sometimes when someone's referring to "these people" they're really just trying to make it clear whom they're referring to. (Note: I don't think Jelena Ostapenko or Townsend were "being" racist when they blurted out what they each got crucified for.)

The Yogurt Shop Murders: Wow. Thirty-four years after four young girls were executed in a yogurt shop in Austin, Texas, and the arrests of four young men -- one of whom wound up on death row (aka why capital punishment should be abolished) -- new DNA results link the crime to a serial rapist and killer named Robert Eugene Bashers, who died by suicide in 1999. As happy as I am that this case has finally been solved -- truly incredible news -- a million bucks says the victims' poor families still won't believe the guys who confessed under serious duress weren't involved, and ditto for the nimrod prosecutors. May some healing finally begin for all.

Late Blondie Drummer Clem Burke Remembered in NYC Photo Exhibition

This is nice: Chris Stein is paying tribute to his fallen bandmate with a photo exhibit downtown:
The Roxy Hotel is honored to present "Clem Burke Photographed by Chris Stein," a special pop-up exhibition celebrating Blondie’s legendary drummer.

On view now through January 6, 2026, the portraits offer an intimate glimpse of the little drummer boy from Bayonne through the lens of longtime friend, bandmate and Blondie co-founder Chris Stein.

We've Been Steppin' Out

Damian and I caught a screening of "Plainclothes," Carmen Emmi's romantic thriller starring Tom Blyth as an undercover cop charged with cleaning up a cruisy men's bathroom at a local mall in Syracuse back in the late '90s. Things get complicated when the closeted plainclothes detective feels a connection with a would-be mark, played by Russell Tovey. As is my standard practice, I won't say much beyond that the film is gripping and never goes where you think it will -- and real reminder to even those of us who lived through that era just how different things are for gay people now.

Keep up with the release schedule HERE.

We also spent the day strolling through Damian's old college campus -- aka NYU -- before getting dinner at Veselka and then heading home to catch the end of Laver Cup.

The Empire State Building showing off

On Saturday we celebrated our friends Chris and Brian's 100th birthday -- 55 for the former and 45 for the latter -- at a soiree held at Ascent Lounge in Columbus Circle, overlooking Central Park. As promised, drinking, dinner and dancing ensued -- along with hundreds of their loved ones. So happy to be a part of this great couple's big day! xo

The birthday boys

On Friday I joined a new gym ...

And on Thursday, Damian and I met up with a colleague of mine for one of his salon gatherings at the Joyce House, just a stone's throw away from my Gray Lady ex. (He knows everyone!) All in all a great four days in a row. Now all I need is another weekend to recover, because Monday night we're headed out again for dinner with a couple Damian is friends with visiting from the U.K. 😜

UPDATE: Matt and Liz were great fun! We're all caught up on our social calendar ... for now!
