Dan serves as a Lecturer and Scholar of Engineering Practice for the Embedded Systems Engineering group at CU Boulder.
He developed the ECEN 5713 graduate course at CU boulder, which he has taught since 2019. He’s also developed and currently supports a Coursera Specialization based on this content.
IoT Theft Prevention Device
Developed and supported an IoT based theft prevention and monitoring solution for a leading software solution provider and client.
- Display an annotated camera feed using an NCNN inference model and gstreamer, opencv, and custom gstreamer pipeline elements.
- Integration with an existing advertising/Digital Signage solution.
- HDMI capture of kiosk content.
- Bidirectional communication to mobile applications via SIP protocol.

- meta-aws-iot-demo a kas yocto project setup demonstrating the use of AWS IoT for software update and secure tunneling.
- tegra-demo-distro swupdate OTA software update example on NVIDIA Jetson platforms.
- A collection of minor patches to support meta-tegra, the Yocto reference layer for NVIDIA Jetson platforms. Assistance with monthly meeting coordination and communication/testing of new releases on OE4T and meta-tegra.
- Updates and maintenance on the ldd3 repository and its parent fork, adding support for recent kernels and supporting the Linux Device Drivers 3rd Edition book.
