About Trellis-Logic


Trellis-Logic is a contract engineering company specializing in Embedded Software and Firmware for Industry and Internet of Things (IoT).

Trellis-Logic is owned by Dan Walkes, who has more than 15 years of embedded software and hardware development experience on commercial product. Dan led firmware development for RDX USB and SATA storage devices which have shipped over 2 million units worldwide. Dan holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota State University and an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.



Academic Projects

Dan serves as a Lecturer and Scholar of Engineering Practice for the Embedded Systems Engineering group at CU Boulder.

He developed the ECEN 5713 graduate course at CU boulder, which he has taught since 2019. He’s also developed and currently supports a Coursera Specialization based on this content.


IoT Theft Prevention Device

Developed and supported an IoT based theft prevention and monitoring solution for a leading software solution provider and client.

  • Display an annotated camera feed using an NCNN inference model and gstreamer, opencv, and custom gstreamer pipeline elements.
  • Integration with an existing advertising/Digital Signage solution.
    • HDMI capture of kiosk content.
    • Bidirectional communication to mobile applications via SIP protocol.
