KANTHARALAK, Thailand -- After heavily armed Thai troops conduct a patrol through a remote village in Kantharalak, a district in northeastern Thailand on the front lines of the recent Thai-Cambodian conflict, its quiet-spoken elder begins his new duty: Keeping watch over the houses of some 300 families, most of whom have fled.
