Recreating the same photo 22 years later - how special is this! 😍 "It was such a surreal moment being able to recreate that picture with Steve," Matthew explained. "I always hoped that I would be able to locate the crew member from the original photo, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that we would work together! "The original photo was taken onboard VH-OGA when it was the Boeing 767, so we hope to be able to operate together on the new Airbus A321XLR VH-OGA and re-create it again there! "Aviation runs through my blood (on both sides of my family), so ever since I can remember, aviation was always going to be the industry for me. "I started my flying career as cabin crew with National Jet Systems back in 2014 on the Boeing 717. In 2018, I joined QantasLink operating on the Dash 8. Then, in 2023, I was given the opportunity to transfer across to Qantas mainline. "I have several highlights so far in my career, the biggest of which is being part of the entry into service program for the A321XLR. I had the honour of operating the proving flight as part of our training and also operated on the launch flight earlier this week! "I love working in aviation because it's fast-paced and constantly evolving, which means there's always something new to learn or experience. Whether it’s new technology or new aircraft designs, it keeps things interesting." - Matthew, Qantas Cabin Crew

Marking the launch of our Airbus A321XLR passenger flights 🥳   Today, VH-OGA and VH-OGB - our brand new XLRs - operated their first commercial services between Sydney-Melbourne and Sydney-Perth.    The next generation aircraft offer a more comfortable flying experience for customers with wider seats, larger windows, fast & free Wi-Fi, and overhead lockers that allow for around 60 per cent more bags than the Boeing 737s they will gradually replace.

From the Qantas Pilot Academy to QantasLink Q400 First Officer 👩✈️ “I grew up in an aviation family, so flying has always been a part of my life," Phoebe explained. "I graduated from the Qantas Pilot Academy in November 2021, and after working as a charter pilot which helped me build valuable flying experience, I got the call to work for QantasLink. "It was such a huge moment for me, and it felt like everything I worked for had paid off. I initially flew the Q200 and Q300, before transitioning to the bigger Q400. "My first flight as a First Officer for QantasLink was made even more special, as my parents and grandparents all purchased tickets to be onboard the flight to Merimbula. Having them there for that milestone in my career is a day I will always remember. "I love flying, and working for QantasLink flying around regional Australia has been incredible so far. I can’t wait to make more memories onboard with our customers and crew. It’s a privilege to be able to fly every day.” - Phoebe, QantasLink Q400 First Officer

Today we've announced a major trans-Tasman expansion across the Qantas Group, adding hundreds of thousands of additional seats between Australia and New Zealand. This includes the first QantasLink Airbus A220 international service, commencing on the Brisbane to Wellington route in February 2026 to replace our E190s and some Boeing 737 services. The state of the art A220 is significantly more fuel efficient than previous generation aircraft and offers customers a more comfortable travel experience with a light and bright cabin design, large windows and overhead lockers, and fast and free Wi-Fi. We also announced a new direct Jetstar route from Brisbane to Queenstown from June 2026, right in time for the peak ski season. Overall, Qantas and Jetstar will add almost 210,000 seats between Australia and New Zealand next year.

We’re excited to announce that Australian designer REBECCA VALLANCE has been appointed to create the next Qantas uniform. This will be the first major uniform redesign in more than a decade and an important part of our transformation, alongside our historic fleet renewal program and preparations for Project Sunrise. Rebecca will use the feedback gathered from more than 17,500 uniformed team members across cabin crew, pilots, engineering and airports to ensure the new design reflects functionality, durability, comfort – and of course, Australian style. The new uniform will launch in 2027, continuing a proud history of Qantas collaborating with leading designers including Martin Grant, Peter Morrissey, and Yves Saint Laurent.

We are excited to be extending our seasonal Perth-Rome service in 2026, adding almost double the capacity on one of our most popular routes 🇮🇹 The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner-operated service will be extended by eight weeks from 3 May to 23 October, and have an increased frequency from three to four flights per week, adding more than 40 extra services and close to 10,000 seats to Aeroporti di Roma. With this expansion, 2026 will become our biggest year yet for long haul services out of Perth, with nearly 300,000 seats across our nonstop flights to London, Paris and Rome, off the back of new international routes to Auckland and Johannesburg commencing at the end of this year*. *𝘍𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘣𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘭.
