An independent, honest look at the MC03. 9to5Google spent time with the device and shared their real take on what it's actually like to use a phone built with no Google behind it. Worth a watch if you're curious what that experience actually looks like. Full review here: https://lnkd.in/eedN6htk

Design-led technology from Switzerland for enhancing digital well-being and data sovereignty. Discover the all-new #MC03
Info
Founded in Switzerland in 2008, with designer Jasper Morrison on board from the very beginning, Punkt. produces consumer electronics products characterised by effective minimalism in terms of both aesthetics and rôle, each made to do a specific job and do it well, but never to intrude. Each is an object of quality and simplicity, designed to be kept rather than designed to be replaced – bringing a degree of elegant permanence into a transient world. One of my portfolio companies is going public?! 🇬🇧 Big news for Apostrophy, the privacy-focused mobile OS company I co-founded and invested in back in 2022. Apostrophy has announced plans that could see the company listed on the London Stock Exchange through a reverse takeover. The deal could also bring Apostrophy and Punkt.'s mobile assets together under one roof. Pretty wild to see how far this one has come. I’m obviously spending most of my working hours these days building Clicks, but I continue to be an investor and active advisor to Apostrophy. I remain a big believer in the need for a real alternative to the Apple/Google mobile duopoly. Especially when it comes to privacy, security and data sovereignty. Lots still needs to happen before the transaction is complete, but this would be a pretty exciting next chapter. Congrats to the entire Apostrophy and Punkt. teams! 👏 More details in the article. Data breaches don't go on holiday. In July alone, 14.2 million KDDI customers had their email and password exposed. 6.9 million people had their driver's license data leaked in a separate breach. Over 26 million records, including facial recognition scans, leaked from a major venue chain. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gP6EMeRB

We are introducing the Punkt. Substack, a space for longer-form writing on privacy, technology, and the everyday choices behind both. The first piece, "Today I Choose Surveillance," is written by security expert and researcher Daniel Cuthbert and examines how readily control over personal data is handed over through the devices we carry. Where your tech is built makes a lot of difference. The MC03 is built in Germany, and the OS is developed in Switzerland. It matters legally, structurally, and ethically: European data frameworks, Swiss privacy standards, with no dependency on ecosystems built on advertising revenue. Sovereignty starts at the hardware level.

Enterprises pour millions into hardening data centers and cloud infrastructure, then deploy that same data onto mobile operating systems they don't control. Petter Neby breaks down how AphyOS (by Apostrophy) closes that gap, on the Punkt. MC03. Read the full piece: https://lnkd.in/etNpAdtP
