Ridley Scott’s ‘Treasure Island’, ‘24 Jump Street’ & Others Get 2027 Sony Release Dates
At a time when the major exhibitors are in town for Cinema United’s Fall Summit, Sony made a slew of release date adds and changes Wednesday. Chief among them is that Ridley Scott’s feature take on Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island starring Hugh Jackman as Long John Silver is coming out on November 11, 2027.
Also the reteam of Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube for 24 Jump Street is driving into theaters on December 10, 2027.
Also added is Sony’s recent TIFF acquisition of Thunder Road’s Michelle Yeoh action movie The Surgeon on April 2 and the Mason Thames-Ella Bright drama Narcs on August 20.
Shifting release dates are Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki’s Bad Robot production Grandgear, moves from February 18, 2028, to MLK weekend January 14, 2028.

The Justin Lin-directed Sony PlayStation production Helldivers starring Alan Ritchson is going from November 10, 2027, to June 9, 2028. That’s because Treasure Island is going into production first, hence that pic landing the Veterans Day date. Also, Helldivers is getting booked during the prime summer season.
The Surgeon comes from filmmaker Roshan Sethi and follows Yeoh as an expert surgeon who is abducted and forced to operate on a mysterious patient, only to turn 35 years of surgical expertise against her captors and outwit them in a fight for survival. The movie is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Diarmaid McGrath of Thunder Road, Tango’s Tim Headington, Lia Buman, Tango’s Neil Shah, Steve Klinsky, Adam Kolbrenner of Lit Entertainment Group, John Schoenfelder and Russell Ackerman. There’s an untitled Disney and Universal feature on April 2 next year alongside Surgeon.
The John Phillips-directed Narcs is produced by Gene Stupnitsky via his Big Name Entertainment alongside Robert Lamonaca, who will executive produce. John Philips and Joseph Micucci are EPs. Also opening on Aug 20 next year is Paramount’s Get Lite from Teyana Taylor.

Treasure Island also stars Hugh Grant and Owen Cooper. Jack Thorne adapted the new take on the classic that follows a young boy who uncovers the map to a legendary buried treasure. He embarks on a perilous sea voyage to claim a hidden fortune, only to find himself locked in a deadly battle of wits with the charismatic and treacherous pirate Long John Silver. Scott and Michael Pruss are producing via their Scott Free banner. The movie will open before Warner Bros’ Margie Claus and Paramount’s Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.
24 Jump Street comes from filmmaker Rodney Rothman (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), who wrote the script with Hill and Meghan Malloy. Producers are Neal H. Moritz, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Tatum and Hill. 24 Jump Street is the only title right now on December 10 next year.
Grandgear will go up against Paramount’s Longlegs sequel on January 14, 2028,as well as an untitled Universal movie and Amazon MGM Studio’s Alone at Dawn.
Helldivers will land on the same weekend as a united Universal event film and UA/Amazon MGM Studios/Amblin’s internet horror feature The Mandela Catalogue. PlayStation’s Helldivers received critical acclaim when the game first came out in 2015, and the sequel, Helldivers 2, sold more than 12 million units across PS5 and PC in the first four months after its launch in 2024. The game, and thus the feature, centers on an elite unit of soldiers known as Helldivers who must battle alien creatures threatening to destroy the fictional planet of Super Earth. Producers are Hutch Parker, PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Lin through his Perfect Storm Entertainment.
