The Eclipse Cross sits in the middle of the Mitsubishi SUV hierarchy between the compact RVR and the mid-size Outlander. The angular visuals do not directly translate to its driving dynamics, which play more to the comfort side. The Eclipse Cross imparts a sense of solidity, and with its roomy interior and impressive warranty it makes for an interesting alternative in the compact crossover segment.
2026 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Competitors
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross competes with compact crossovers like the VW Taos, Buick Envista, Mazda CX-30, Honda HR-V, Chevy Trax, Subaru Crosstrek and Kia Seltos.
What’s new with the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross for 2026?
There are no major changes to the Eclipse Cross for 2026.
2026 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Performance
All Eclipse Cross models come with Mitsubishi’s S-AWC (super all wheel control) AWD system. It’s a sophisticated full-time setup with torque vectoring on both front and rear axles – a nod to the marque’s long rally heritage. With three drive modes – Normal, Gravel, Snow – the Eclipse Cross is well suited for handling extreme conditions. Under the hood is a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder making a modest 152 hp, 184 lb-ft from 2,000 rpm. It’s fine for daily driving duties, be that zipping around town or highway cruising thanks to its low-end turbo torque. Hooked to a well-behaved CVT (continuously variable transmission), the little four-pot won’t thrill but the crossover never feels flatfooted. The Eclipse Cross serves up a decently quiet and compliant ride thanks to its softly-sprung suspension. Handling that is competent but not engaging.
2026 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Fuel Economy
With official fuel economy numbers of 9.6 L/100 km city, 8.9 highway and 9.3 combined, the all-wheel drive Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross trails such rivals as the Hyundai Tucson AWD, VW Taos 4Motion, Honda HR-V AWD and Subaru Crosstrek.
2026 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Safety
Upper trims get a full suite of safety aids that includes front collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning and lane change warning, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, rain sensing wipers, LED headlights with auto dimming and multi-view 360-degree camera. The NHTSA gives the Eclipse Cross a top Five Star safety rating, but the IIHS crash test results are mixed, showing a poor rating for side impact and moderate front overlap.
2026 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Reliability
Mitsubishi products are known for their tough-as-nails durability. The 4B11 engine has been around since 2007, is very reliable, easy to maintain and carries a 10-year powertrain warranty. Still, Consumer Reports predicts the Eclipse Cross’ reliability to be average.
2026 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Interior
The dash-mounted 8-inch touchscreen has a simple menu structure, responds quickly, and sports both volume and tuning dials. A panel of physical controls for HVAC function is found below a trio of large rotary knobs, and praise be, the Eclipse Cross has hard buttons for seat heat and steering wheel heat. Heated fabric seats are standard, but moving up the trim walk can have the little crossover spec’d to near luxury levels.
2026 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Dimensions
Back seat riders enjoy good legroom and semi reclining seats. With 663 litres of cargo capacity behind the 60/40 split second row, and 1,419 litres with the second row folded down, the Eclipse Cross is a capable hauler although shoppers will find more cargo space in the Honda HR-V, VW Taos and Chevrolet Trax. In the Mitsu’s favour, there’s a retractable tonneau cover and the lip from the bottom of the hatch opening to the load floor is very small. It loses points because the second row does not fold completely fold flat. The Noir gets a hands-free powered hatch. Interestingly, Mitsubishi quotes two tow ratings for the Eclipse Cross: 1,500 lbs with five people aboard, and 2,000 lbs with two people.
2026 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Canadian Pricing
The Eclipse Cross is available in four trim levels: ES ($29,398), SE ($32,898), Noir ($36,498) and leather-lined GT ($38,498).
