Initially established as an automotive software engineering centre, the Samsung-owned firm’s centers in India have grown into one of the company's largest global R&D hubs, driving AI innovation and connected vehicle platforms.

In his new role, Mukherjee will lead the company's technology vision and strategy for India, with a focus on driving innovation across the enterprise and strengthening its engineering and product capabilities.

The new facility will initially house more than 60 engineers supporting engineering, product development and digital capabilities, the company said.
