George Clooney has achieved the impossible: getting Adam Sandler to suit up.
The actors star together in the upcoming movie Jay Kelly, and Clooney is proud that he's had a positive impact on Sandler's fashion choices during their recent red carpet events.
"I've actually been making Adam wear suits," Clooney told PEOPLE at the Jay Kelly premiere at the New York Film Festival on Monday. "Don't you think he looks nicer instead of those big baggy shorts?"

Clooney went on to praise his costar for being "the sweetest man in the world."
The Oscar winner added, "I love him. He's a dear friend and the fact that I got to work with him again is [great]."
Sandler's signature look of baggy tops and even baggier shorts have become iconic, in their own way. However, it can't be denied that a formal suit just looks better for a red carpet event.
The comedian previously spoke with Complex in July about unintentionally becoming a subversive style icon for his baggy look. He admitted that he doesn't really "think about it," but has noticed that it's become a viral trend.
"It's funny as hell," Sandler said. "And whenever one of my kids or their friends talks to me about it ... my wife's like, 'What the hell are we talking about right now? How did that happen?'"

The Happy Gilmore star added that his wife "always was nice" to him about his "goofy" sense of style.
"Even when we were young, others would say, 'Would you put on something better than that? Your wife's dressed so beautifully,'" Sandler said. "My wife would say, 'He’s comfortable like that. Let him do that. Leave him alone.'"

Jay Kelly follows the titular aging A-list movie star (Clooney) and his devoted manager (Sandler) as they go on a journey of self-discovery together across Europe. The movie is written and directed by Noah Baumbach, marking Sandler's first collaboration with the filmmaker since 2017's The Meyerowitz Stories: New and Selected.
Meanwhile, Clooney has never worked with Baumbach as a director, though he previously delivered the filmmaker's dialogue in 2009's Fantastic Mr. Fox, which the Frances Ha director co-wrote with Wes Anderson.
Jay Kelly opens in select theaters Nov. 14 before streaming on Netflix on Dec. 5.
