Organization custom properties are now available in public preview
Organization custom properties, now in public preview, let you add metadata to your organizations for streamlined ruleset targeting.
What are organization custom properties?
Just like custom properties for repositories, organization custom properties let you define and assign metadata to organizations within your enterprise. You can use organization custom properties to create highly targeted policies based on each organization’s unique characteristics, whether that’s by department, compliance requirements, geographic region, or any other criteria that matters to your enterprise.
Better targeting for enterprise rulesets
- Save time and reduce errors: No more manual configuration. Set up rulesets that automatically apply the right policies to the right organizations.
- Improve security and compliance: Ensure that the correct security and compliance policies are always in place for each organization.
- Greater control and flexibility: Tailor your policies to the unique needs of each organization within your enterprise.
How it works
Enterprise administrators can define custom properties at the enterprise level and assign values to individual organizations. Each property can be:
- Single-select: Choose one value from a predefined list.
- Multi-select: Choose multiple values from a predefined list.
- Text: Enter free-form text.
- True/false: Set a boolean value.
Limits and constraints
- An enterprise can have up to 100 property definitions.
- An allowed value list can have up to 200 items.
- Property names may only contain:
a-z,A-Z,0-9,_,-,$, and#. - Property values may contain all printable ASCII characters except
".
