I made a lite version.

my ADHD wouldn't let me get anything else done until I got this done, and after 4 days of blood sweat and tears I managed to make a "lite" version of the deskhop with everything that I care about working, and some interesting findings.

• spent 3 days trying to get my mmo mouse buttosn to work. it went haywire. I eventualyl decided to build a new thing from ground up using a raspberry pi and two teensies, thinking it was a limitation of the pico or something. THE EXACT same problem happened. On a sneaking suspicion, I brought a different brand of mmo mouse (corsair scimitar). ALL THE SIDE BUTTONS WORK. this leads me to the conclusion that if you got a mouse with side buttons that make the system go haywire, it's likely something weird about that mouses firmware.
• setting default mode to game mode is pretty easy to do
• changing the hotkeys is easy to do. I set it to F17, which keeps the system from messing with the control keys. and then I just set one of my keys to F17 on mykeyboard.
• if your like me and you don't care about the mouse roaming (I have 8 monitors, 4 on each computer, the mouse roaming woujld be annoying anyway), and you want to use hot key only and the switch is all you care about, its a bit of work but you can rip out basically every feature.
• my volume control keys work by default. the power key only worked on side A by default. I had to add some lines to get it to work on both sides.

also I mad eone more change, switching the F17 key to Pause, becuase its' a key that a lot of people don't even use and is also accessible on my mouse (f17 couldn't be set on my corsair mouse).

I don't know that I would even call my version lite. its more like...barebones, which is exactly what I wanted. I'll see if I can create fork or something? (I've never actually done that)

source code is still the same as hrvach's, I need to clean it up and upload it. I made a massive mess tearing things apart.

but I uploaded the firmware for now if you wanna try it, there's a version that switches on F17, and a version that switches on PAUSE. I've confirmed it working with my nuphy air75 v2 and my corsair scimitar, plugged in and through wireless dongle.

Thank you for working on this, it's really awesome to see other people are hacking around this. It reminds me, I promised to make the gaming mode as default a configurable option. Maybe I'll be able to find some time this week! I like the idea of a minimalist/lite version, thank you!
