I'm encountering a persistent error when trying to use GitHub Copilot chat functionality in both Visual Studio Code and IntelliJ IDEA. Every time I attempt to chat with Copilot, I receive the message "Token expired or invalid: 403."

Details:

• I have an active GitHub Pro subscription obtained through the student developer pack, which grants Copilot access. My student status is valid for at least the next 3 years.
• I've confirmed my GitHub Pro status by verifying the badge on my account.
• I can successfully utilize Copilot's suggestion features within my code editor (VS Code/IntelliJ IDEA).
• Troubleshooting steps already taken:
  • Signed out and signed back in to both VS Code and IntelliJ IDEA.

Question

I've searched the GitHub community forums and found that others have encountered this same error with Copilot chat, despite their Copilot suggestions working within the code editor. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate a definitive solution yet.

Has anyone within the community successfully resolved this specific "Token expired or invalid: 403" error with Copilot chat? Are there any troubleshooting steps beyond signing out and back in that might be helpful? Additionally, could there be a known delay for Student Developer Pack access to be fully activated, potentially causing this issue?
