In Terminal, pressing Ctrl-W to delete a word is a common operation. After transitioning to GitHub Codespaces, I frequently hit this shortcut by accident, which renders the entire Codespaces session unusable, requiring a page refresh to continue working. |

Thank you for the feedback and kind words! We agree that accidentally closing a Codespace with Ctrl+W can be disruptive. Your suggestion to show a confirmation prompt like “Are you sure you want to close the Codespace?” is noted and will be considered for future improvements. In the meantime, you may want to use browser extensions or settings that prevent accidental tab closure. |

On a Mac that works just fine, BTW (because the shortcut to close a tab there is Cmd-W, so you can delete words with Ctrl-W as much as you want without it closing the tab :) ) |

First off, I want to express my appreciation for the amazing work you’ve done with GitHub Codespaces. It’s a game changer for remote development, and I absolutely love using it! The seamless integration and powerful features have really enhanced my workflow.
However, there’s one small issue I’ve encountered due to muscle memory and habit. When I’m working, I often use Ctrl+W to close a tab, but occasionally, I accidentally close the entire Codespaces tab in my browser instead. This disrupts my workflow.
To help prevent this, I’d like to suggest adding a confirmation prompt when attempting to close a Codespaces tab via Ctrl+W. Something like “Are you sure you want to close the Codespace?” would be incredibly helpful. This small addition could save a lot of frustration for users like me.
Thanks again for creating such a cool and useful product. I’m looking forward to seeing how Codespaces continues to evolve!
