I have a domain devarif.me and I want to change my Github username by devarif/mearif, but it's not available and I also checked that that user is not active for long long time. any idea what should I do?

Based on Github's name squatting policy, it should be possible to claim the username if it hasn't been used for a long time (https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/other-site-policies/github-username-policy#name-squatting-policy)

To get the username you want of yourself from an inactive account. try the following:

1. Sign into GitHub, then profile page of the user who has the username you want but has been inactive. click the Block or report user button in the overflow menu.

2. Click the "Report abuse" button in the popup dialog box

3. On the "report abuse page", type a message explaining the user is no longer active and that you would like for the username to be release

After clicking the Send request button, your abuse report will be sent to GitHub Support, and they will get back to you via email. The amount of time it takes might differ from case to case, but it should be pretty quick.

4. After you hear back from GitHub support, go to Settings > Account > Change username and claim the username you wanted which should now be released.
