Hello, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the recent change in the Projects view. I completely understand your concern — having to navigate away from the projects list to view an issue and then go back does introduce extra steps and slows down the workflow. Previously, keeping the projects view open with a drawer or sidebar preview for issues allowed for faster context switching and more efficient project management. This change can be seen as a significant usability regression, especially for users who rely on quick navigation between project tasks and issue details. Improving this experience by reintroducing or enhancing the issue preview drawer within the projects view would greatly benefit productivity. I appreciate you bringing this to attention. Providing clear, detailed feedback like yours helps the GitHub team prioritize user experience improvements in the Issues and Projects areas. If you need assistance submitting this feedback or want to find ongoing discussions about this topic, I’m happy to help. Thanks again for your valuable input! |

Same here. Is this on purpose by Github or is it a bug...? could someone elaborate on this? |

The same behaviour has just started to occur for me - was working fine a week ago, but now that I'm back from a holiday, clicking on an issue opens it in place, rather than opening the side panel. This is extremely annoying. |

So I have to manage, give or take, at least a 100 issues a week in multiple kanbans and Github still makes me open and load the whole issue page instead of just opening it in the drawer which is much faster... this is very annoying and I'm at the point of wanting to go use a different service. Can we at least get some clarification on why this change happened? Furthermore, on my co-worker's work machine, Github still opens the issue in a drawer like before (I can't describe how faster and convenient it is to open it in the drawer), so is it just us unlucky few? or is it a bug affecting only some users/browser, etc? |

I have found the reason this is happening, to me at least. It's happening because Github refined (https://github.com/refined-github/refined-github). Among its features is
In the extension settings there's This was tested to be working on Firefox. Huge thanks to @pgorod for mentioning the extension in his comment which reminded me and inspired me to investigate there. |

This is a huge usability regression since it takes much longer to navigate to the page and go back to the projects view rather than keeping the projects view open with the drawer for the issue preview.
