Hey there, you should reach GitHub support and give them proofs that you're a student, they will probably resolve your issue. |

Try asking your school for help. Or wait until they help you with the documents |

Hey @rlettcode We've updated our Student Developer Pack Application FAQs & Common Rejection Reasons discussion. It's packed with valuable information that might just have what you're looking for. I've included the section that I feel would best assist. You may have to speak to your school's IT department to provide confirmation that emails don't allow external domains and to us that you need to use an alternative email to verify this school. |

If your school blocks external emails, you usually won’t be able to verify the student email through GitHub’s automatic verification system. In this case, you can still apply for GitHub Student Developer Pack using documentation instead of a school email. During the application process, choose the option that says “I don’t have a school-issued email address” and upload proof of enrollment such as:
Make sure the document clearly shows :your name, the school name, and a current date or active status. If the support ticket form isn’t showing confirmation, try:
You can also apply directly through the official page: If verification still fails, GitHub Education Support can manually review your documents once the ticket is successfully submitted. |

It looks like the issue is happening because your school email cannot receive external emails, so the verification email from GitHub never reaches you. In this situation, you can still apply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack using documentation instead of a school email. When applying, choose the option that allows student verification through documents. GitHub usually accepts proof such as a student ID card, enrollment letter, timetable, or a screenshot from your school portal showing your name and the current academic year. Upload one of these documents during the application process. The GitHub Education team will manually review it and verify your student status. Regarding the support ticket issue, try submitting the request again using a different browser, clearing your cache, or using an incognito window. If the confirmation still does not appear, you can contact GitHub Education support directly through their help page. Once your documentation is approved, you should be able to access the GitHub Student Developer Pack benefits without needing the school email verification. |

Hey! I totally get how frustrating that situation is — school email restrictions make the verification step really difficult. Here are a few things that might help:
Hope you get it sorted soon — GitHub Student Pack is definitely worth it! |

Use GitHub’s alternative verification (upload your student ID/enrollment proof) and contact support via a different browser or device if the ticket form isn’t submitting. |

If you don’t have access to your school email, you can still apply using alternative verification. Try this:
Also, if your school blocks external emails, you won’t receive verification emails, so manual verification is the best option. Make sure your GitHub profile name matches your documents to avoid rejection. If your support ticket is not submitting, try a different browser or device. |

Based on that discussion thread, here's a clear, consolidated answer: Your school email blocks external emails, so GitHub's verification email never arrives. This is common with schools that restrict inbound mail to protect students. Solution: Manual Document Verification You don't need a school email. GitHub supports document-based verification as an alternative. Step 1 — Go to the application page: Step 2 — Choose the "I don't have a school-issued email" option (or similar wording). This lets you upload proof instead. Step 3 — Upload one of these documents:
Key tips for the document:
If the Support Ticket Form Isn't Working This was a secondary issue in the thread. Try:
If All Else Fails — Contact Directly
What to Include When Contacting Support
GitHub's education team can manually approve your Student Developer Pack once they review valid documentation — the school email is a convenience, not a hard requirement. |

Maybe you can try with your school id or Tuition receipt instead of school email |

This sounds frustrating, but you still have a valid path to get verified. If your school email cannot receive external messages, then email-based verification won’t work in your case. However, GitHub does allow verification using official documents. You can try restarting the application and look for the option to verify using documents (such as a student ID, enrollment letter, or fee receipt). Make sure the document clearly shows your name, school, and a recent date. Regarding the support ticket issue, if you’re not receiving confirmation, try submitting it from a different browser or device and check your spam folder as well. Sometimes the form submission doesn’t show a confirmation message properly. If nothing works, you may need to contact GitHub Support again and clearly mention that your school blocks incoming emails, so manual verification is required. |

This is a known pain point with the Student Developer Pack — school IT policies that block external emails break the verification flow entirely. A few things that should help: Use your school ID or enrollment documentation instead. GitHub's verification system accepts official documents like a student ID card, an enrollment letter, or a transcript. When you apply, there's an option to upload documentation directly rather than going through email verification. Use that path. For the ticket issue — if the support form isn't confirming submission, try a different browser or disable any extensions (especially ad blockers). GitHub's support forms can silently fail with certain setups. If it still won't go through, try submitting from incognito mode. If you've already tried submitting a ticket and aren't sure it went through, you can also reach out directly via [GitHub Support](https://support.github.com/contact) and mention that your school's IT policy blocks external emails. Be upfront about it — they deal with this fairly often and can manually review your documentation. One more thing: make sure the email you're using on your GitHub account is one you can actually access (your personal email is fine). The school email just needs to be on file for verification purposes, but GitHub support can work around the confirmation step when you explain the situation and provide docs. Tip: When uploading documents, make sure your name, school name, and current enrollment date are all clearly visible. That speeds things up significantly. |
