Not just in PyCharm, @arielman2304 in WebStorm is also poorly optimized. after having Github Copilot for a while opened, CPU goes crazy and I have to manually close it and open it again. (WebStorm 2025.2.1 - Github Copilot 1.5.56-243, MacOS) |

in my experience in VSCode, there was no slowing down and models are ever improving, Claude Sonnet 4 hits the sweet spot of not being too aggressive and now with good reasoning, unlike the Claude Sonnet 3.7 where it scans and edit a lot of files that sometimes are well beyond what you want but anyways, there are cases like yours too, so these might be the related issues that might be of help : 1. VS Code Plugin (Version 1.82.51)

We are working on pycharm (2025.2.0.1) in windows10 VDI, and upgrade the github copilot plugin to latest version (1.5.56-243). since the upgrade, we see major performance issue, and the pycharm is getting stuck and works very slow. after we downgrade to 1.5.55-243, it works well.
In addition, it seems like the models got "dumber" resulting in lower quality output. We got quite a lot results with incomplete or broken code and repetitive mistakes. Once we rolled back the plugin to version 1.5.53 everything seems to be in order again.
