Feature Request Summary
It would be helpful if GitHub Copilot in VS Code (or other IDEs) could show which instruction files are currently influencing the file being edited. This would give developers more transparency and understanding of Copilot’s suggestions.
Use Case
Copilot may be influenced by multiple instruction files, such as copilot-instructions.md or other custom instruction files.
Currently, it is not clear which instruction files are applied to the active file, making it harder to understand Copilot’s suggestions.
Suggested Solution
It could be useful to provide a Context Panel or hover tooltip that lists all active instruction files affecting the current file.
For example, when editing index.ts, the panel might show:
