For once, no ranting 🤣, just great feedback.

A big Kudos for an amazing and promising LLM, Raptor Mini, and why you call it Mini, it's Maxi already. Outperforms all other models at a fraction of the time required, in real life coding tasks. Listens to instructions (not stupidly but faithfully), and the reasoning progress behind is very useful. Looking forward to the Maxi version 🤣 .

I just sat down after pouring my morning coffee and see there's a new model. Excited to use it but I can't select it in VS Code, in Copilot web, or anywhere else. I can enable it on my Copilot settings, but not actually use the model on any interface.

Any idea how I can get access?

Do you know how to figure out how to activate the model in my Visual Studio Code? I had exactly the same issue you’re describing. First, of course, make sure it’s enabled on your GitHub Copilot settings page. Then go to Visual Studio Code, and in the mode selector — that is, the agent mode — switch it to Edit, then to Ask, and finally back to Agent. You’ll see that it appears after that.

Raptor Mini preview has finally shown up for me

Thanks @JourneyOver. No luck here still. Any hints on where it's available? Copilot CLI? Visual Studio Copilot? Copilot web?

I can enable Raptor-mini for my acccount but I still can't select it anywhere.

@AlexanderJohnston It seems like once it showed up for me in one place it showed up for me everywhere else as well. I first noticed it in VSCode copilot chat and went to check other places it was there for all of them as well (It won't show up in copilot cli atm since it's technically a free model and well copilot cli does not seem to "support" free models at the moment unless you do a workaround).

It does seem to be that they are doing a gradual release of the raptor mini preview so not everyone will have access to it as soon as they enable it in their accounts but I'm sure it'll show up for you soon enough.

Agreed. I have only used it a handful of times, but it's so smart. It thinks about what is needed before I do.

I suspect this thread is astroturf. In any event, the code quality produced by Raptor mini is pretty poor so far. We'll see if it gets better, but as of now, it's not worth displacing other functioning models.

I am getting raptor mini to take over from Claude Hiaku the fourth (and a half) on my medium sized python project. I am preferring raptor mini (and its cheaper). I was using it as Agent, but have just discovered Plan. It was tending to prefer Dict[Any] to making a new class, which I am having to refactor away and Dict[Any] was coming back to bite me as it always does.

So, I still cannot see this model. I cannot see it in Copilot Chat for Visual Studio. I can not see it in VSCode. I can not see it in Cursor. I can not see it in Copilot Web Dashboard. I can not see it in Copilot CLI.

I have it enabled on any systems which allow me to enable it (Copilot dashboard settings for example).

Where is raptor-mini? I have access to gpt-5.1-codex, and every other new model that launched, but not raptor-mini?
