Hi! Looking at the screenshot you shared, it seems that “Include private contributions on my profile” is currently turned off. Could you try this?
Let me know if the achievements option appears afterward. Also, just to confirm: did you recently convert your GitHub account (for example, from a student email to a personal one)? This can occasionally impact profile-visibility settings. EDIT : Is there a specific reason your README file uses a |

Hey there, Thanks for the detailed report — super helpful! I totally get how frustrating it is when a setting you used to rely on just vanishes without warning. I checked on my end (and a few other accounts), and it looks like GitHub recently rolled out some backend changes to how Achievements are managed. Right now, the “Show Achievements” toggle isn’t appearing for all users, even those who’ve previously unlocked and displayed them. This seems to be part of a quiet transition—possibly tied to their newer profile customization updates—but it’s definitely causing confusion. A few things that might help while we wait for GitHub to smooth this out: If your profile still shows achievements publicly (even without the toggle), they’re likely still visible to others—you just can’t control the setting right now. Hope this helps, and sorry you’re dealing with the glitch! |

Hi! Thanks for looking into this. Since the achievements toggle still isn’t appearing, here are a few things you can try that don’t involve the private-contributions setting: first, try visiting https://github.com/?tab=achievements and see if the page loads—if it does, open any achievement and check for a Show/Hide (eye) icon, toggle visibility once, and then refresh your profile settings to see if the global toggle reappears, as some users reported this restores the setting. Also check the Contribution & activity settings section instead of Public Profile, since some accounts have the toggle located there due to UI rollout differences. This might also be related to feature rollout changes or account flags, so please confirm when you last saw the toggle, whether your account recently changed type (e.g., student → personal, enterprise → personal), or if you’re enrolled in any beta features. Finally, I noticed your profile README uses a non-standard .lmd extension instead of README.md; while this shouldn’t normally affect achievements, formatting issues have caused layout glitches before, so try renaming it temporarily to README.md and refresh to check if the achievements section appears again. Let me know what results you get from these steps—especially whether the achievements tab loads normally or gives a 404. |
