Consult the repository's documentation: Look for a README file or project wiki within the linked GitHub repository for specific instructions on how to set up the development environment, compile the code, and flash the firmware correctly. Other similar projects use tools like the Matrixclock EEPROM editor or have specific setup instructions. Provide more details: Add comments to their discussion post with specific error messages, the operating system they are using, and the steps they followed. This helps others diagnose the exact problem. Explore similar projects: Review the documentation of related ESP8266 matrix clock projects on GitHub, as they might share similar build processes or troubleshooting tips. Seek help in relevant forums: In addition to GitHub Discussions, communities on platforms like Reddit (r/esp8266 or r/arduino) or dedicated electronics forums can offer guidance from experienced hobbyists. |

I don't know anything about this. I bought this clock based on the ESP8266 microprocessor. I want to modify the firmware, compile and flash it onto the ESP8266. The code folder however is not compatible with the Arduino IDE. I tried flashing the existing .bin file but bricked the device. The repository is at https://github.com/jnetzhou/MatrixClock
Can anyone help an absolute novice?
