This is a known issue with GitHub’s education verification system. Diacritics can cause verification failures, and so can titles like “PhD” if they don’t match exactly. Many users have had success by:
The automated system often misreads international names, so Support has to fix it manually. |

Hi @otichy, Make sure to fill in your billing info and GitHub profile with your full name exactly as it appears on your academic transcript. Then log out and log back into GitHub before reapplying, because the application system gets stuck in a loop even after the required information has been updated. If you still get rejected, submit the application using another device, such as a smartphone or another PC. If none of the above works, I recommend you contact support by opening a ticket here, select " |

Hi, I did all that.
and the result is the exact same verification failure asking me to complete the billing information. Opening a ticket does not help, they simply tell me to check the billing information and re-submit and then close the ticket. Is there anything else I can do? I used to have the Education status last year. I teach a course where I recommend the students and staff to enrol into it to use GitHub. How can I keep recommending a process that has taken me now two weeks and seven re-submissions with no results? |

Hi everyone,
I have now applied for the Education Benefits as a teacher at Charles University. I have edited my profile and my billing information to contain my name exactly as it is on the documentation I have submitted. The documentation includes a university ID card (which has no end-date) and a signed and stamped letter in English from our HR office on the official letterhead stating I am currently a teacher at the university.
However, I keep receiving verification failures pointing out I need to fill-in the billing information with the exact name, as it appears on the papers. The name is exactly as it is in the papers and on the ID, so I don't know what else to do. Could the diacritics (my first name is Ondřej) play a role? Maybe the automatic verification mechanism cannot parse them correctly? Or could the PhD after the name on the official document cause problems?
In other threads, people suggested opening a ticket, but that process warns me that opening a ticket for a verification issue is no longer possible.
