Hi everyone,

Despite providing valid documentation, I received a notification that my application was not accepted. I have double-checked the uploaded file and confirmed that it is the most recent version issued by my university and contains all necessary information.

I would like to clarify a critical technical limitation of the document issuance system. The official certificate system at my university automatically masks or omits the school name in the printed version by default. This is a system-generated security feature that I, as a student, cannot manually alter or fix.

Since I cannot change how the system prints the document, asking me to "make the name visible" is asking for something impossible on my end.

However, this is exactly why the Online Verification system exists.

Even if the printed text masks the name, the document's authenticity and origin (my university) can be 100% verified through the official database.

Can I submit the original PDF file directly?
Is it possible for me to send the original digital PDF certificate directly to this email thread or through a specific upload link? The original PDF guarantees better legibility and contains the metadata needed for verification, which might solve the visibility issue.

The GitHub Community can’t review or override individual GitHub Education / Student Developer Pack applications, so this needs to be handled directly by GitHub Support.

Because your university’s system technically cannot show the school name in the printed version, you should:

Open a support ticket here:

Choose “GitHub Education” → “Student / Teacher verification” (or similar).

Clearly explain:

That the masking of the school name is an automatic system behavior you cannot change.

That the document can be fully verified via the official online verification system.

Ask if you may:

Attach the original PDF directly, and

Provide the online verification link / code for them to confirm your university and enrollment.

Only the Education support team can review your case, accept the PDF, and manually verify your eligibility.
