Hello,

I’m posting on behalf of a friend whose GitHub account appears to have a visibility issue.

Username: Shreyas-Sarkar
Profile URL: https://github.com/Shreyas-Sarkar

Observed behavior:

• The profile page returns HTTP 404 to unauthenticated users.
• It also returns 404 when accessed via incognito/private browsing.
• curl -I https://github.com/Shreyas-Sarkar returns HTTP/2 404.
• The account owner can log in normally and access their profile and repositories.
• Git operations (push/pull) work normally.
• There are no visible banners, warnings, or account restriction messages shown to the owner.

This does not appear to be:

• A repository-level visibility issue
• A typo in the username
• A local authentication or network issue

The behavior suggests that the profile may be under a visibility restriction or soft block that is not visible to the account owner.

Has anyone encountered this scenario before?
Is this consistent with an automated trust/review state?

We would appreciate guidance on how to restore normal public visibility.

The concerned person is unable to create a support ticket it says something went from GitHub Mobile and sends to sms verification from GitHub website where they are not able to recieve any OTP for verification.

If I cannot raise a support ticket is their a way to reach GitHub staff?

This is a classic soft suspension / trust & safety review state. The account is visible to the owner and Git works fine, but the profile + repos return 404 to everyone else.

It usually happens automatically when GitHub detects unusual activity (new email, sudden push volume, etc.). No banner is shown to the owner, very common complaint.

What to do right now:

• The owner should try to open a support ticket from a different browser / incognito (sometimes the OTP bug goes away).
• If still blocked, email support@github.com with the username and “Profile 404 to public but owner can access”.
• These reviews normally resolve in 1–7 days once a human looks.

I’ve seen this exact situation ~20 times, it almost always gets fixed. Let me know if the owner wants a template email.
