Recent GitHub copilot versions hang: the thinking bullet stops pulsating #188234

Yeah, you are not the only one seeing this. I ran into the same behavior on recent Copilot CLI builds where the “Thinking” indicator stops animating and the request appears stuck. Since you already opened an issue and it is tagged for triage, it means the team has seen it, but it may not have been prioritized yet. The commit reference you shared suggests they are actively touching related code, so it is likely on their radar. Until it is fixed, a few workarounds seem to help: • downgrade to a version that still works reliably, like 0.0.394 In my testing, the request is sometimes still processing even though the indicator stops blinking, which makes it look frozen. If you want to increase visibility, adding logs and environment details to the existing issue can help the maintainers reproduce it faster. Hopefully a fix lands soon, but for now rolling back to a stable version is the safest option. |

I downgraded the FreeBSD port to 0.0.394 to avoid this problem. But this is a critical usability problem that the Copilot CLI team needs to address ASAP. |

I created this bug report but it got no attention: github/copilot-cli#1320
Is there any chance to fix it?
