Browser version of copilot chat #188390

I don’t think GitHub removed the browser version of Copilot Chat. What usually happens is GitHub redirects to settings when Copilot Chat is not fully enabled or needs confirmation. You can try a few quick things that often fix it: First, go to GitHub Settings → Copilot and make sure Copilot Chat is enabled. Then sign out and sign back in once. That refreshes the session and sometimes brings the chat back. If it still redirects, open GitHub in a private window. Browser extensions or cached data can interfere more often than we expect. Also check if you are using a work or school account. Some organizations disable Copilot Chat in the browser. Another small trick: open any repository and press the dot key ( . ) to open the web editor. Copilot Chat is available there too. Copilot Pro gives you access, but GitHub is still rolling out features and sometimes behavior varies by account or region. If none of this works, GitHub Support can confirm whether everything is enabled correctly on your account. Hope this helps. I know it’s annoying when something that worked yesterday suddenly stops working. |

Hi, I Think.... As of now, GitHub has not officially announced that the browser version of Copilot Chat has been permanently removed. If you are being redirected to the settings page, it is most likely a temporary issue, account-related problem, or a change in how Copilot is being rolled out. |
