It does, SWAG is built around NGINX just like NPM. You can follow those instructions for the most part.

don't know if you ever figured it out yourself, but there's an easy way to set up the location and server confs (similar to authelia) for inclusion in a service's proxy conf. Let me know if you need it

Seems like swag has some default configs for Tinyauth:

so they do, good find. not sure if you use tinyauth or not, but have you found a way to get it to pass oidc credentials through to an app for seamless login (where that app doesn't have native oidc)?

Your options would be basic auth or proxy auth. AFAIK these are the only ways for proxies to pass authentication to proxied apps.
