About this book

This book is a compilation of selected papers from the 15th International Symposium on Computer Science in Sport (IACSS 2025), held on September 13-15, 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. The work focuses on the application of computer science and technology in the field of sports (such as intelligent data collection, data mining, visual analysis of game data, virtual reality, machine learning, computer vision, match prediction models and performance analysis). The contents make valuable contributions to academic researchers, college students, coaches and athletes, and sports management personnel (such as managers of sports associations, training bases, and professional clubs). Additionally, readers will encounter new ideas for realizing a more efficient and convenient training and exercise system.

About the editors

Dr. Hui Zhang holds a bachelor's degree from Zhejiang Normal University, a master's degree from Beijing Sport University in China, and a Ph.D. from the University of Potsdam in Germany. From 2003 to 2013, he served as a professor at Shanghai University of Sport, executive deputy dean of the China Table Tennis College, and director of the Key Lab of Technique and Tactic Diagnosis and Analysis at the State General Administration of Sports. Since joining Zhejiang University in 2014, he has been a professor in the Department of Sports Science. He has served as President of the International Association of Computer Science in Sport (IACSS) since 2022. 

Dr. Naoki Suzuki completed his Ph.D. in 2007, focusing on assessment in physical education, at Tokyo Gakugei University, Japan. His research interests include physical education pedagogy, teacher education, assessment, and the use of technology in physical education. He has worked at Tokyo Gakugei University since 2009 and has conducted numerous international collaborative studies with institutions abroad. He is currently Chairman of the International Organization of Technology Educator & Innovative Researcher (IOTEIR), President of the Global Metaverse Laboratory, Governor of Asia of IAHPEDS, Advisory Board member of the TGfU SIG (AIESEP), Director of IACSS, Country Coordinator for Japan and Advisory Board member of IAPES, Fellow of IOHSK, and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Physical Education and Sports. He also served as Co-Chair of the 2024 IAHPEDS World Congress and the 2025 IACSS International Conference.

Dr. Walter Ho received his MEd and Ph.D. in physical education from the University of Sydney, Australia. His research interests focused on Quality Physical Education (QPE), sports sociology, children's health development, physical activity, exercise psychology, and gender issues. Walter joined the University of Macau (Faculty of Education) in 2003 as an assistant professor, and in 2023 he moved to Tokyo, where he served as a research fellow at Tokyo Gakugei University until early 2026. He now holds adjunct positions as an assistant professor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Professor at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo Leon.

Dr. Martin Lames studied sports, mathematics, and philosophy, earning his Ph.D. from Mainz University in 1990. He acquired his postdoctoral teaching qualification (Habilitation) in sports sciences at Kiel University in 1997. Dr. Lames was the President of the International Association of Computer Science in Sport (2013-2022) and served as the Vice President of the German Association for Sports Science (2003-2007).

Dr. Arnold Baca is a Professor at the Centre for Sport Science and University Sports, University of Vienna. He received his Ph.D. degree in Technical Sciences from the Technical University of Vienna in 1986 and acquired his postdoctoral teaching qualification (Habilitation) at the University of Vienna in 1998. He is the Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Computer Science in Sport and used to be the President of the International Association of Computer Science in Sport (2007-2013) and the Chair of the Austrian Association of Computer Science in Sport (since 2002).

Dr. Yingcai Wu is a Professor at the State Key Lab of CAD & CG, Zhejiang University. He currently serves as the Executive Vice Dean of the International Campus of Zhejiang University, Dean of the ZJU-UIUC Institute (ZJUI), and Deputy Director of the State Key Lab of CAD&CG. Dr. Wu earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). His research interests lie in visual analytics and human-computer interaction, with a strong focus on applications in sports science and sports AI. As an active researcher in these fields, he has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in prestigious venues, such as IEEE VIS, ACM SIGCHI, IEEE TVCG, AAAI, KDD, ICML, and ACL.
