In the presence of Minister Lex Delles, POST officially decommissioned the analogue fixed-line network on 3 July 2026, marking the completion of its transition to a 100 per cent All-IP network. After nearly 40 years of service, EWSD technology is beeing replaced by infrastructure based entirely on Internet technologies and geared towards the future. POST Luxembourg continues to modernise its infrastructure through the widespread adoption of All-IP technologies and the roll-out of fibre-optic networks, in order to meet growing demand for connectivity. Phasing out EWSD technology: The end of the analogue era and the transition to a 100 % All-IP network 📞➡️🌐 On Friday, July 3, 2026, POST Luxembourg permanently decommissioned the analogue fixed-line network, in the presence of Lex Delles, Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, completing the country's transition to a fully IP-based network (100% All-IP) after nearly 40 years of EWSD technology. Introduced in the 1980s, EWSD (Elektronisches Wählsystem Digital) enabled digital call routing and was a major milestone in the modernization of Luxembourg's fixed-line network. Its retirement marks the achievement of a fully IP-based, future-ready infrastructure. As digital usage and connectivity needs keep growing, POST continues to modernize its infrastructure. The shift to All-IP and the rollout of fiber optics, now covering more than 92% of households, are progressively replacing the historic copper network, simplifying architecture, cutting costs and energy use, and improving service quality. 5G DeLux: A new milestone for cross-border connectivity On June 16th, 2026, the European 5G DeLux consortium held a demonstration day in Schengen, bringing together the European Commission, national ministries, industry players and local authorities around a shared goal: seamless mobile connectivity across borders.   Led by Deutsche Telekom, BMW Group and POST Luxembourg, co-funded by the EU's CEF Digital program, the project mobilized 40+ specialists, including POST Technologies' RAN, Core and Roaming teams, to improve 5G coverage and services in the Frisange (LU) – Saarbrücken (DE) project corridor.   The result: Customers, mobile devices and particularly connected cars switch now seamlessly, for up to 5G NSA, between the POST and Deutsche Telekom mobile networks, so, no interruption in voice calls and in data sessions when crossing the border. This paves the way in border regions for more reliable connected mobility services, notably for: voice calls, emergency calls, driver-assistance systems and AI-based in-car applications.   The seamless handover is intended to be rolled out gradually, starting in Schengen (LU) - Perl (DE) and extending to other border crossings between Luxembourg and Germany with potential for further European borders down the line.   #5GDeLux #Connectivity #Innovation #POSTLuxembourg #5G #ConnectedMobility #CEFDigital
