ALT CTRL is home to the latest and greatest in alternative music. Here, it’s as much an attitude as a sound—music that keeps things a little left of centre and rough around the edges. This week, Of Monsters and Men lose themselves in “Ordinary Creature”, a romantic fantasy of a track off All Is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade, their new album, out this month. Not unlike the early, exuberant folk-rock singles that took them from Iceland to the international stage, “Ordinary Creature” has vocalists Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir and Ragnar Þórhallsson daydreaming about their loves while trying to figure them out (“I was in a dream/Swimming up the stream to your door/Flowers in the window/Sweater on the bed/What’s your day like? What’s your day without all your problems?”). Check back often, as our editors update this playlist regularly—and if you hear something you like, add it to your library.
