Founded in 1982 by Betty and Anthony Vaccaro, Bettaway is a South Plainfield-based integrated material handling, transportation and supply chain management company. Since that time, the company has evolved from a beverage distribution company servicing restaurants, catering halls, and commercial accounts – into an organization led today by Laura and John Vaccaro, that provides smart, cost-effective supply chain solutions in a number of ways. While the core business still consists of many leading beverage companies and suppliers, Bettaway services a wide range of industries – with a focus of providing a “Bettaway” of transporting goods and the supply and retrieval of pallets. Throughout its evolution, Bettaway has embraced the evolving technological requirements of the industry while still retaining personal interaction – boasting many of its original customers. The company also has a philanthropic bent. An example is its partnership, now in its third year, with local Pennington non-profit We Make – Autism at Work, which provides adults on the autism spectrum with meaningful job and career development opportunities. “This program is proof positive that a focused program and dedicated support resources can create an environment where those adults with autism can not only succeed in the workplace but develop meaningful, sustainable careers,” said John Vaccaro.
