In response to her own experiences as a mom, Janet Rollero, a personal trainer by trade, launched Whitehorse Station-based Certified Fitness for Special Needs – a charitable organization aimed at supporting children and adults with special needs. “After giving birth to three children, all with ADHD and one diagnosed on the Autistic Spectrum, I was faced with many challenges and lacked support from family, schools and physicians,” said Rollero. “Through trial and error and determination, I used my knowledge and experience as a fitness trainer and owner of a commercial studio to cope with and overcome the many obstacles of hyperactivity, mood swings, learning difficulties, social inadequacies/rejection and nutritional challenges.” CFSN aims to help individuals of all abilities develop greater body awareness, strength, physical flexibility, confidence and self-regulation – with a mission of providing fitness activities in a positive and safe environment, which offer the opportunity to develop mind, body, and spirit. Its exercise programs and trainers approach the challenges with skill, experience, and optimism. “First tip, as a business owner, be passionate about what you do. The money follows,” Rollero said in an interview with Collabs.io Mag, when asked about her tips for starting, running, and growing a business today. “The second tip, you need a team of people to help you and reward them. The third tip, mentor someone who could replace you; you will need them one day to do so.”
