Newark Mayor Launches New Memoir With Audible: Video

NEWARK, NJ — Newark-based audio book company, Audible, recently hosted a launch event for Mayor Ras Baraka's new memoir, “The Book of Baraka.”

According to a news release, the memoir is a “reinvention of the political memoir” that recounts Baraka’s journey from spoken word artist, to school principal to politician.

Baraka – the son of famed, late poet Amiri Baraka – performed as part of the fireside chat at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, which also included Audible founder Don Katz and New Yorker staff writer, Jelani Cobb.
