Business Dead
Since last week we have had 2 orders! Our usual number of sales is 10-12. We've had one sale on one of our sites and that's all. We sell on 4 sites. Just curious if anyone has had bad business like this for the last week. We saw this same pattern when tariffs were announced in March or April, even though we sell used books. We thought people were scared to buy books instead of groceries. Don't know the answer, but I know when yoyo tariffs (when he changed his mind every 5 min.) began business picked up a little. Maybe it is the August 1st deadline for tariffs to begin again, no matter what! Just curious about other sellers.

Hello fellow used bookseller. We are having the same problem here. I've had maybe 3 or 4 sales total this week as opposed to the 10 to 20 or so we normally get as well. Our in store sales have been dead as well. I think people are afraid to spend money right now. It really sucks. I wish you the best of luck.

How are your sales this month compared to last July? As a book seller, mid-summer is usually pretty slow. Granted, I'm down about 15% from this month last year, but that's not terrible.
If your numbers are way down from last year, check your metrics. Have you had any bad feedback, claims, late shipments?
And keep stirring the pot. Add inventory, reprice, check your potential policy violations for pricing errors. Keep on stirring, keep on stirring, keep on stirring. . . .
Sales usually start to pick up again mid-August.

I looked at my sales graph for the year just yesterday, and it's been a steady downward trend since the first of the year. People just don't want to/can't spend money. I've gone from 40-60 sales daily, to 5-10 if I'm lucky.

It's summer vacation-and for many in the south and west-the last weeks possible for vacation since school/university will be beginning soon! Have more to do than buy used books during vacation time Also, school supplies/clothes or college tuition is soon due. Frankly, I don't know how parents do it these days.
We're booksellers too-and our sales are approx. 33% less than 2024, which was our best for a long time. Sales are more like '23-not great but enough to cover expenses. A profit-whta's that? In the fall, once the hot weather recedes, folks may feel like reading once more.

Our sales have been down considerably for this time of year, and even compared to last year. Combo of issues: yes, the tariffs; yes, the economy in total; and are your listings being seen? AMZ is going thru a change with AI that will make your listings invisible. Investigate Rufus and Cosmo...

Don't put all of your eggs in Amazon's basket!
I expanded to most popular websites years ago and never looked back.

This is not the market. This is amazon. Amazon is not a good selling partner.
