2This is the only option that worked for me. On my case error was happening on: git clone --depth=1 <url> However, as per your instruction, I've executed first: git config --global core.compression 0 Then all following steps, and everything worked great! PS: I have good internet connection, just today is behaving weirdly. Thank you!Slipmp– Slipmp2021-01-31 21:23:13 +00:00Commented Jan 31, 2021 at 21:23

3Can you detail what does disabling compression help accomplish?CheekyBeeswaxer– CheekyBeeswaxer2021-07-02 03:43:31 +00:00Commented Jul 2, 2021 at 3:43

6@Slim Here what we are doing is disabling the default behavior of compressing the full object and then fetch. instead we are fetching without compressing which allows us to fetch step by step by specifying the depth.NikhilP– NikhilP2021-12-27 11:50:57 +00:00Commented Dec 27, 2021 at 11:50

Is there a way to find out how much the depth is? Because it keeps download even if the depth is enough.Andry– Andry2024-12-07 10:30:43 +00:00Commented Dec 7, 2024 at 10:30

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. python-3.x), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
