You can use Gemini Apps to create, use, and share study materials like flashcards, quizzes, and study guides to help prepare for exams.
What you need
To use this feature, you must be signed in to Gemini Apps. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.
Create quizzes, flashcards, practice tests & study guides
- On a computer, go to gemini.google.com.
- In the text box, enter your prompt describing the type of quiz you want.
- Tip: Start your prompt telling Gemini what to create followed by the materials or topic you want to study.
- Practice test: “Generate a full length practice test for the [test name]”
- Supported tests include SAT, JEE Main, and NEET UG.
- Quiz: “Create a quiz about”
- Flashcards: “Create flashcards about”
- Study guide: “Create a study guide about”
- Practice test: “Generate a full length practice test for the [test name]”
- Tip: Start your prompt telling Gemini what to create followed by the materials or topic you want to study.
- Optional steps:
- Click Add files
and select the source material you want to upload as context. Learn how to upload files in Gemini Apps.
- To generate your study guide in a doc, click Add Files
Canvas

- Click Add files
- Click Submit
. Your materials will open in the Canvas panel on the right.
Tip: You can also create a practice test, quiz, flashcards, or a study guide from a Canvas doc. Learn how to create study materials in Canvas.
About practice tests
- You can choose to take a full test or specific sections.
- A countdown timer may be added to track your time.
- When you’re done, a summary screen will show the answers you got correct, incorrect, or skipped and your score per section.
Additional options in a quiz
After you start the quiz, you have additional options to get hints, ask questions, and practice with more questions.
- To get a hint, click Show hint.
- To ask Gemini additional questions about the material or topic , enter your question in the text box on the left and click Submit
.
- To move to the next question, click Next.
- To go back to the previous question, click Previous.
- To review your performance, after you complete the quiz, click Analyze my performance.
- To generate more questions, when you complete the quiz, click More questions.
Use & edit flashcards
After you open your flashcards, you have additional options to get hints, shuffle cards, and listen to the questions and answers.
- To get a hint, click Hint
.
- To shuffle the flashcards, click Shuffle mode
. This will shuffle all of the flashcards in the deck.
- To have Gemini play audio of the text, click Text to speech
.
- To flip a card to the answer or move to the next card, click Next
.
- To go through the flashcards again, when you complete the deck, click Restart flashcards.
Share a practice test, quiz, flashcard set, or study guide
Important: If you’re signed in to a work or school Google Account, you can’t share practice tests, quizzes, flashcards, or study guides.
- On a computer, go to gemini.google.com.
- Open the chat with the material you want to share.
- In the chat, click the practice test, quiz, flashcard set, or study guide to open it in the Canvas panel.
- At the top right, click Share
.
- Choose how you want to share:
- To share the link: At the top, next to the
g.co/gemini/sharelink, click Copy link. Then paste it where you want to share, like in a messaging app, an email draft, or a forum thread.
- To share on an available social platform: At the bottom, click the social platform and follow the on-screen instructions.
- To share the link: At the top, next to the
Add a chat with a practice test, quiz, flashcard set, or study guide to a study notebook
If you’ve created a study notebook, you can add study materials to it.
- On a computer, go to gemini.google.com.
- At the top, hover over Gemini
and click open sidebar
.
- Under recent chats, hover over the chat that you want to add.
- Click More
Add to Notebook
.
- Choose the study notebook you want to add the chat to.
