Dr. Richard Munassi MD MBA is a Serial Entrepreneur, Mentor, Advisor, and Investor.
As a Founder, he is an alumni of the TMCx, Endeavor, and Techstars Accelerator programs, and has raised into the $10s of millions of dollars in VC/angel/family office funding.
Dr. Munassi is Managing Director and Chief Strategy Officer of the Tampa Bay Wave, Florida’s top Accelerator and the #3 Accelerator in the United States as ranked by Time Magazine. Since 2017, he has grown the program from 1 cohort per year to multiple, specializing in HealthTech, Cybersecurity, DefenseTech, FinTech, AI, and BlueTech, with the portfolio growing from $10M in annual funding to over $500M annually currently.
Dr. Munassi has deep ties to California and the Gulf Coast and brings has a unique network and background that includes NASA, SXSW, FedTech, MassChallenge, MIT Solve, UCSF Health, TMCx, and more. Dr. Munassi is also the former Entrepreneur in Residence at both the University of Florida and University of South Florida as well as Techstars, and current Entrepreneur in Residence for Vanderbilt Health and the University of East London.
He is a prolific angel investor, as well as an LP in multiple VC funds, and startups he has founded, mentored, or advised have raised over $2B with 30+ exits.
