Tim Heidel

Dr. Tim Heidel leads VEIR as Chief Executive Officer, driving the company’s mission to redefine how power is delivered at the scale that AI and the next generation of infrastructure demand. A recognized authority in power systems innovation, Tim brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise and strategic investment acumen to the helm of one of the most consequential energy infrastructure companies of our time.
Before joining VEIR, Tim was an investment team member at Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV), where he backed companies leveraging breakthrough technologies to combat climate change. Prior to BEV, he served as Deputy Chief Scientist at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), helping lead R&D strategy across the organization. Tim began his career as a Program Director at the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), where he managed a portfolio of more than 75 research projects focused on next-generation approaches to transmission, delivery, and optimization of electric power.
Tim holds SB, MEng, and PhD degrees in electrical engineering, and an MS in technology and policy — all from MIT.
