Yuri Sagalov
Managing Director, General Catalyst
Yuri Sagalov is a Managing Director at General Catalyst. He leads the firm’s seed investing strategy in the U.S., partnering with founders at the earliest stages. He focuses on non-consensus and outlier opportunities built by exceptional people. Yuri believes that the most meaningful impact that investors can make is through lasting relationships and the hands-on collaborative work that happens post-investment as you design the foundational architecture of your company.
Yuri’s love of technology started early. He began programming at age 6 and launched his first business while still in high school. After studying Computer Science at the University of Toronto, he dropped out of grad school to participate in Y Combinator and to start a company in 2010. He ran that startup for seven years before it was acquired.
In 2014, Yuri joined Y Combinator as a partner, where he spent five years working with some of the world’s most ambitious founders. After YC, he founded Wayfinder, his own seed-stage fund, where he worked hand-in-hand with founders from their earliest days.
Outside of work, he enjoys flying airplanes, sailing in the San Francisco Bay, and spending time with his children.
