Today, we're rolling out Shop Pay on Muse, Meta’s new personal AI agent. Shop Pay is the one-click purple checkout button trusted by hundreds of millions of shoppers globally.
Now a buyer can ask Muse to find a product and pay with the cards and shipping address already in their Shop Pay account. Nothing is charged until they approve it.
Shopping through a personal AI agent is still a new experience for many. The agent completes the purchase on the buyer's behalf with the access they grant. No one hands that over without confidence in the experience.
Shop Pay has already earned that trust at checkout. Our job was to carry it into personal agents, so two things had to be true before we shipped:
- The buyer stays in control of every purchase
- Shop Pay just works, with no setup
The buyer stays in control
We worked closely with the Muse team to keep the buyer in charge. Once Muse finds the right product, the buyer reviews it in Shop Pay and approves the purchase before anything is charged. The order runs through the merchant's Shopify checkout as a regular transaction, with the buyer's card protected by a one-time credential so their card is never shared with the agent. Once the order is placed, the buyer can track it in Muse or in Shop, where it sits alongside their other purchases.
It just works with Shop Pay
In Muse, checkout feels familiar with Shop Pay. A buyer’s saved cards and shipping addresses are already there. They approve the purchase and the rest just works.
This is the same Shop Pay identity that works across millions of Shopify stores, now carried into Muse. Buyers moved more than $400 billion through Shop Pay since it launched. It is how they already pay. Credit card rewards, offers and dispute protection work like any other transaction.
The same standard for every agent
Shop Pay is how the buyer pays. To reach the merchant's checkout, Muse uses the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), an open standard we co-developed that lets approved AI agents transact with a store while automatically respecting how that merchant already runs their business.
The team at Meta has done an incredible job. Muse is the first personal agent with a native Shop Pay integration. This is only the beginning. Every agent we bring Shop Pay meets the same bar. The buyer stays in control. More coming very soon.
