A piece of equipment on a remote dairy farm develops a fault. The people using it need an answer, but a specialist may be hundreds of kilometres away. That is one of the situations Gautam Gupta explores in our next BTA Bytes episode. He joins Nigel O'Neill to discuss how digital twins can help teams monitor equipment, anticipate failures and guide repairs. They also look at applications in airports and smart cities. It is a practical introduction to the technology and the problems it can help solve. 🎙️Launching 1 October #BehindTheAlgorithm #BTABytes #DigitalTwins #PredictiveMaintenance #SmartCities

A digital twin can show how a machine, building or city is working as conditions change. But what makes it more useful than a conventional simulation? It draws on data from the real system. That connection can help people spot faults earlier, test decisions and make better use of resources. In the next episode of BTA Bytes by BEHIND THE ALGORITHM, Nigel O'Neill speaks with Gautam Gupta about what digital twins are, how they work and where they are already being used. 🎙️ Launching 1 October. #BehindTheAlgorithm #BTABytes #DigitalTwins #DataAnalytics

🚀 Embracing change is rarely comfortable, but progress often begins when we challenge ourselves to learn, adapt and try something new. In our latest episode of BEHIND THE ALGORITHM, we sit down with Ann Dunkin, former CTO for Dell Computers and CIO for the US Department of Energy, to discuss the future of work. As technology reshapes the workplace, curiosity and a willingness to evolve will matter more than ever. Watch the clip for an encouraging perspective on navigating change. 🎧 Available wherever you get your podcasts. #BehindTheAlgorithm #FutureOfWork #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #Innovation

🎯 Successful AI adoption needs more than isolated experiments. It requires a clear, top-down strategy that connects leadership priorities with the people responsible for delivery. In our latest episode of BEHIND THE ALGORITHM, we sit down with Ann Dunkin, former CTO for Dell Computers and CIO for the US Department of Energy, to discuss the future of work. Without that alignment, even promising tools can struggle to create lasting value. Watch the clip for the full perspective. 🎧 Available wherever you get your podcasts. #BehindTheAlgorithm #AIStrategy #Leadership #DigitalTransformation #Innovation

🤝 AI in hiring, pay and workplace decisions is becoming a legal battleground... AI in the workplace is often discussed as a productivity story. Increasingly, it is also becoming an accountability story. From recruitment systems to performance monitoring, shift allocation and algorithmic pay, employers are delegating more decisions to software. The difficult part begins when those systems affect someone’s income or career and the explanation becomes simply: “the algorithm decided”. Algorithms do not remove human responsibility. People choose the objective, the data, the thresholds and the conditions in which a system is deployed. The more consequential the decision, the more important it becomes to preserve a clear line between automation and accountability. 💻 AI is changing corporate software development, from how teams write and test code to how quickly they can turn ideas into working products. In our latest episode of BEHIND THE ALGORITHM, we sit down with Ann Dunkin, former CTO for Dell Computers and CIO for the US Department of Energy, to discuss the future of work. What does that mean for developers, businesses and the way software is built? Watch the clip to explore the shift. 🎧 Available wherever you get your podcasts. #BehindTheAlgorithm #AI #SoftwareDevelopment #Technology #FutureOfWork

🤖 AI can be transformative, but it is not the answer to every problem. In our latest episode of BEHIND THE ALGORITHM, we sit down with Ann Dunkin, former CTO for Dell Computers and CIO for the US Department of Energy, to discuss the future of work. The real opportunity begins with understanding the challenge, then deciding whether AI is genuinely the right tool to solve it. Watch the clip for a more considered take on where AI can add value. 🎧 Available wherever you get your podcasts. #BehindTheAlgorithm #ArtificialIntelligence #DigitalTransformation #BusinessStrategy

Many organisations are introducing AI without reconsidering the processes surrounding it. Ann Dunkin calls this “paving the cow paths”: using new technology to reproduce an outdated way of working. Giving employees access to AI tools may generate useful experiments, but it does not amount to an organisational strategy. Leaders still need to decide what they want the technology to achieve, how it fits across different functions and where human judgement remains essential. In the next episode of BEHIND THE ALGORITHM, the former US Department of Energy CIO discusses why effective adoption requires direction from senior leaders, insight from employees and a willingness to redesign how work gets done. 💥 UK Parliament calls for a wide-ranging AI Bill to protect human rights... The UK debate around AI regulation is shifting from abstract principles to a much more practical question: where does responsibility sit when an automated system affects someone’s rights, work or access to services? Calls from Parliament for a dedicated AI Bill reflect a growing concern that existing rules were written for decisions made by identifiable people and institutions. AI complicates that chain of accountability, particularly when systems are supplied by one organisation, trained by another and deployed by a third. Regulation will inevitably be imperfect. The more important test is whether people can understand how consequential decisions are made, challenge them when necessary and identify who is responsible. That is the real governance question behind the technology.
