We were thrilled to host a private screening of our documentary, Intelligence Rising, at the Barbican Cinema in London! Fresh from its selection at SXSW London and CPH:DOX, it was a privilege to share it with 100+ people dedicated to the serious exploration of AI governance issues. The evening kicked off with a high-energy fireside chat between Accenture CTO/Faculty.ai CEO Marc Warner and IR creator and Technology Strategy Roleplay founder Shahar Avin, moderated by TSR trustee Jessica Bland, covering topics like policymaker incentives, parenting in the age of AI, and how much of human thriving that happens away from the frontier of economic usefulness (like gathering friends to play "quite bad golf"). Thanks to the team at Faculty.ai, wargamers i3 Gen and director Elena Andreicheva for their collaboration in bringing a high-level wargame to life in this documentary!

Inspired by the efficient model of war games, Intelligence Rising exposes participants to dynamics and decision junctures representative of the future of AI tech and policy development. Participants discover, explore and internalise opportunities on one hand, and safety, ethical and security concerns related to AI on the other. The game design is based on a wealth of academic research from top universities and current discussions within the AI community. On a strategic level, understanding how dynamics between great powers evolve, or how frontier AI labs will influence governments, will allow your team to make considerate decisions when they are making their plans for the next 2-5 years. As regulation emerges, participants of Intelligence Rising will gain a competitive advantage by being aware of this before we inevitably move from voluntary reporting from very few actors to widespread liability regimes and mandatory reporting. With this skill, you can keep updating as the world changes on.

We are delighted to have successfully completed another Science 2030 event! Science 2030 is a scenario exercise we’ve been developing with our partners at Google DeepMind. This time, we have partnered with Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA) to deliver it in London. We were thrilled to see the creativity of participants across government, the business world, and the science community as they explored how AI may affect science and society. To complement Science 2030, participants attended fascinating talks on the potential futures of AI for science by top researchers at ARIA and GDM, covering topics such as the discovery of novel materials, ecosystem modelling, and medical analysis. From forecasts to reality: This article tests forecasts of #AI impact against reality, showing how many of the scenarios in the Intelligence Rising documentary actually played out.
Quickly following on from the Understand article that described how we worked with a range of AI SMEs to create the forecasts of #AI Impact. This next article looks at those forecasts made from Sept 2023 to July 2024 and compares them to reality! In short, how well do they stack up? How accurate or not were we? How realistic were the events that played out in Intelligence Rising 2024? When we assessed how these compared with real-world developments over the following two years, the results were notable: 34 of 121 injects scored 4 or 5 on our accuracy scale (29%) 7 of 121 occurred almost verbatim (6%) 55% of injects scored 3 or higher In other words, nearly one-third of the injects we created had either occurred or very nearly occurred between the game’s design in early 2024 and the time of this analysis. Not only can leaders consider how to interpret real-world developments as they emerge, in many cases, the potential issues they practised mitigating actually played out in reality over the subsequent two years.
