[Harvey Family] Removal Order
This Order was served on Stephen Harvey, his wife Love, and their children
Stephen and Mary, who'd 'lately intruded' into the parish of St Nicholas. On
examination it appears Stephen was born in West Teignmouth, he'd never gained settlement
anywhere else, and so the Order was issued to have the family removed to West Teignmouth.
Order dated 24th February 1720/1, single paper sheet, printed form with manuscript

[Colyton] Abstract of Title to Property in
Nunford
This 1843 abstract gives details of persons involved in various transactions
going back more to 1726 when Axminster clothier Joseph Parrett acquired a house etc, land
known as Rack Close, The Mead, Souther Wareham, Great Wareham. This was sold to Edward
Hooper in 1757, who gave it to his godson Nathaniel Gundry. A second part of the property
had already [1746] been acquired by Nathaniel Gundry, consisting of a house and an orchard
called Peter's Mead. In 1806 Nathaniel Gundry - then living in Middlesex - sold the whole
property to Sir William de la Pole. The abstract also covers a one-fourth share of the
nearby manor of Whitford which Sir William de la Pole also acquired in 1806, this having
been previously the concern of the Williams familiy. The abstract contains a schedule of
tenants of the manor of Whitford, the property tenanted, its area etc. This nice piece of
local history is in manuscript on 21 large paper sheets, all watermarked 1842. The
covering (ie 22nd) sheet is detached and is torn in two. (ref 756/241) *�15.00

Gardens
Though they range in dates from 1862 to 1907 these 3 parchment deeds may be
the only property deeds drawn up in that 45 years. The cottages are described as
being near the church in Vicarage Road. Clearly some building had been constructed
during that time as the 1907 deed refers to 5 cottages. The area was formerly known
as Maunders (1862) though the cottage(s) was/were in existence in 1712. Very much

this detailed study of Exeter's earliest domestic architecture in 1958, but a number of
the houses had already been demolished by the time the book was published. A very

Thurlestone would appear to have been built about 1905, and the original
lease and its counterpart both bear site plans showing the property next to the church.
The 4 parchment deeds show Thurlestone was very much the concern of Newton Abbot

4pp prospectus for author's 'Some Old Devon Churches' [it is thought Stabb abandoned
plans for further vols to Devon Church Antiquities to concentrate on Some Old Devon
Churches, destined to become a 3 vol work (1908, 1911, 1916)], 'illustrated with one
hundred and thirty-eight reproductions of photograps taken by the author'. A nice
clean copy both inside and out, there are signs of the binding beginning to crack
internally in several places, making this a somewhat sloppy copy, but given the age and
the weight of the glossy paper used for the pp, VG, better than most. (ref 8292)

in the Devon Record Office
DRO handlist no 3, 1987. A4 format in cherry red card covers, plastic
spiral bound. 158pp, contents alphabetic by name of vessel. Covers the approx
period 1863-1913. The title is misleading in that only the ship's master is shown.
Other details are vessel's number (quite useful as some vessels appear more than
once over the years and sometimes there are clearly more than one vessel with the same
name), year recorded, port of registration, name of master (surname only) and name of
owner (surname only). A decent copy, ex-Glamorgan Record Office Library, their stamp
