two modes: comparison within one country for all six
indicators or comparison for one governance indicator
across multiple countries. Any chart can be easily
downloaded into user-friendly formats.
2.
Excel-based global comparative graphs—This
interactive tool produces graphs for each governance
dimension that display the 2004 governance ratings
for each country, allowing the user to highlight countries
of interest. Charts are displayed in six separate
sheets, illustrating the range of likely values of
each governance indicator for the selected countries
and compared with all other countries worldwide for
that indicator. The interface also provides the option
to compare 2004 estimates with previous years.

Note:
The updated indicators for 1996–2004, available
in May 2005, supersede the previously posted indicators
from 1996 to 2002.
The governance indicators presented here reflect the statistical
compilation of responses on the quality of governance
given by a large number of enterprise, citizen and
expert survey respondents in industrial and developing
countries, as compiled by a number of survey institutes,
think tanks, non-governmental organizations, and international
organizations. The aggregate indicators in no way reflect the
official position of the World Bank, its Executive
Directors, or the countries they represent. As discussed
in detail in the accompanying papers, countries' relative
positions on these indicators are subject to margins
of error that are clearly indicated. Consequently,
precise country rankings cannot be inferred from this
data.
