Epic free web browser is currently available only for windows operating system. The size of the browser is just 10 MB and can be installed within minutes. The antivirus that comes bundled with epic has the option to scan the computer and folders on demand. The antivirus pack is approximately 25 MB in size.
Installation instructions for the setup : To install Epic the user has to follow these simple instructions:

1. Visit www.epicbrowser.com
2. Click �Download Epic� button. By downloading the set-up file from this site, you can be sure that your version of Epic will be kept updated with the latest features and security fixes.
3. Review the Terms of Service and follow the instructions on the screen to install the browser.

Epic automatically opens after the installation is completed.

You can remove Epic browser like any other windows program. Follow these steps:

1. Click the Start button, select Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs.
3. In the Currently Installed Programs window, click the program that you wish to remove and then click Change or Change/Remove button.
4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to uninstall the browser on your computer.
5. In the Epic Uninstall window, click Yes to confirm the removal of the program.

The browser is by Indians, for the indians. One of the main feature is hte supprt for Indic Languages, that allows you to type in regional languages easily. Here you can type in your mother tongue using regular keyboard.
In the sidebar icons list, click the Indic icon to type in your regional language in Epic.
Steps to type in your regional language:

1. Click the drop-down menu in the extreme end of the window, select the Indic language in which you want to type.
2. Start typing in the specific area/work space with the help of your keyboard and hit the space button. The text will then change to the selected language.
   Note:
   For web pages that don�t have an option to type the text in Indic languages, you can write the text here and copy, paste it into your E-mail or Website.

Copy and Paste the text:

1. Click the drop-down menu, select the Indic language in which you want to type.
2. Start typing in the specific area/work space with the help of your keyboard and hit the space button on your keyboard. The text will then change to the selected language.
3. To Copy and Paste the Indic text from the sidebar, click Save and Copy button.
   Note:
   
   • Save and Copy option saves the text in Epic browser, so you don�t have to worry about loosing the text.
   • Uncheck the drop-down box to type the text in English.

Steps to add a new font for the Windows XP operating system.

1. Download the required font from the appropriate website. Usually the font will be a .ttf file or an .otf file.
2. Click the Start button, select Control Panel, and then select Appearance and Themes category.
3. In the left side of the screen, under the See Also panel, select the Fonts folder.
4. On the File menu, select Install New Font.
5. In the Add Fonts window, select the folder that contains the fonts you want to add.
6. To add more than one font to the List of Fonts pane, press and hold the CTRL key on your keyboard.
7. Click the fonts you want to add, and make sure that the check box Copy Fonts to Fonts Folder is selected.
8. Click OK .

Steps to add new font for the Windows 95/98/2000 operating systems.

1. Download the required fonts. Usually the font will be a .ttf file or an .otf file.
2. Click Start, select Settings, and then select Control Panel.
3. In the Control Panel, double click the Fonts icon.
4. Click on the "File" menu and select "Install New Fonts"(a new window "Add Fonts" should pop up)
5. In the Add Fonts window, select the drive and folder that contains the fonts you wish to add.
6. To add more than one font to the List of Fonts pane, press and hold the CTRL key on your keyboard.
7. Click the fonts you want to add, and make sure that the check box Copy Fonts to Fonts Folder is selected.
8. Double Click on the font file you wish to install and click on the "OK" button

Steps to add new font for the Windows Vista operating system.

1. Download the required fonts. Usually the font will be a .ttf file or an .otf file.
2. Click Start, select Control Panel, and then select Appearance and Personalization category.
3. Double click and open the Fonts folder.
4. In the Fonts window, right click in the white space, and select Install New font.
5. In the Add Fonts window, select the drive and folder that contain the fonts you want to add.
6. Click Install.

Steps to add new font for the Windows 7 operating system.

1. Download the required fonts. Usually the font will be a .ttf file or an .otf file.
2. Click Start, select Control Panel.
3. In the Control Panel double click the Fonts folder (in Appearance and Personalization category) to open it.
4. In the Fonts folder Paste the downloaded font file.

Now you can read the required font in Epic.

The Position of the sidebar in the browser is fixed to the left-hand side of the window. The user cannot move the sidebar to the right side of the page.

The user cannot move the app links from sidebar to the main window.

Snippet is a simple but powerful tool to save the text/images from the web pages and add your own notes to the labels.Snippet is a simple but powerful tool to drag highlighted text, images, tabs and web pages to the white space area and save them as labels/tags. Clicking on the labels creates a virtual document that you can use for reseach purpose.
To create a snippet:

1. Click the "snippet" app icon in the browser to open in the sidebar.
2. Highlight the text/images and drag them into the "snippets" sidebar. This will be saved in the Epic as web snippet.
   Note:
   
   • The user can drag and drop a tab in the snippet sidebar work space to save an entire web page. These pages are saved as labels and he can access the web pages at any time.
   • The main functionality of the snippet is that there is no need to bookmark your favorite web pages.

"Epic Write" is a fully-processed Word Processor. You can easily create text documents, tables, images and reports using this app. �Write� has Indic language support and can be accessed through a drop-down menu, that is situated at the extreme right-hand side of the page with a check box. You can enable the option to type the text in any Indic language with the help of your keyboard. In Epic write there is Auto-Save feature available where all the content you type in is automatically saved using the Tiny Paste feature. Also the same data can be saved in the form of .html file on your desktop to make sure that you don't loose your content.

The main advantage of "Epic Skins" is that the user can control its appearance. "Skins" app has theme for header, sidebar, footer and wallpaper for the browsing page. There are thousands of Skins available under different categories that includes Regional,Films, Music, Culture, Sports, Politics and many more.
How to set a new background Skin/Add a new Skin to my current page:

1. Click the "Skins" app icon to open it in the sidebar window.
2. Under the Dress up your Epic section click any category/option you wish to open, for example People.
3. Click any option to open the set of themes, wallpapers you want to assign, say Children.
4. Here you will be re-directed to the sub categories pages where you have the options to select the respective themes, wallpapers or both. You have to click theme or wallpaper or both options button to assign the skin of your choice to the current page.

"Epic India" app is developed keeping in mind the interests and tastes of the indian users. Using this app the users from India can now access all the news from the major newspapers covering Regional, National and International news. "Epic India" also covers information on various topics like Bollywood, Shopping, Local Events, Videos, Stock Market, Cricket, Daily tidbits and many more.

Epic browser has individual help for every app.

1. Click the app for which you wish to get the help.
2. Click button to get the individual help about the app.

The user can add more functionality and customization to the Epic browser through Mozilla Firefox Add-ons.
How to Install Add-on to Epic:

1. Click Add-on app icon in the sidebar.
2. In the Get Add-on Tab, double-click Browse All Add-ons link. This will re-direct you to http://addons.mozilla.org.
3. Find your favorite add-on you wish to add and click the button Add to Firefox.
4. In the Software Installation window, click Install Now button.
5. Click 'Restart now' for the installation process of the add-on to complete. And now you can use the new add-on in the Epic.

'Videos' app icon in the sidebar allows you to search videos of YouTube and watch them in Epic. Epic�s Video sidebar allows the user to move videos from YouTube or from other video sites into the sidebar. Here the user can watch the videos and simultaneously browse other websites.
How to download videos to Epic:

1. Click the YouTube Search button. Type the keyword of the video you want to view in the text box and click the Search button.
2. You will get the list of videos. Double-click the video you want to add to the list and let the video to stream/download completely.
3. Click the Append to Playlist button, give a name to My Playlist, and then click Ok. This will save the video in the Epic sidebar which you can watch at any time.

Note:

• You can play this video in the sidebar with the help of Play icon.
• To play the video in New tab click the following icon .

'My Computer' app in Epic helps the user to access the files and folders of his system. Now you can access, cut, copy, paste, delete and see the hidden files in the sidebar. With the help of Browse button the user can browse the existing files, folders in the computer.
How to move the file from one folder to the other folder without copy/paste in Epic:

1. Click My Computer icon in the sidebar.
2. Drag and drop the My Computer from sidebar to the tab. This will open the My Computer in the new tab.
3. Now open the file in sidebar which you wish to move from one folder to the other.
4. Open the folder in the My Computer tab where you want to drop the file.
5. Now just drag and drop the file from sidebar to the tab. This will move and save the file automatically from one folder to the other folder.

The "To Do" app is the reminder feature present in Epic. The user can set an alert for each and every task that he wants to track. Epic stores the history of the tasks the user completes.
How to add a task to the "To-Do" app:

1. Click the "To Do" app icon to open in the sidebar of Epic.
2. In My To Do list window, type-in the name of the task you want to start in the first text box.
3. Once you navigate to the second text box , then you will get three icons highlighted next to the first text box.
4. Click Attach a alert icon. In the Set an Alert window set the time, date and ring tone for the alert.
5. Click Set Alert button to start the alert.

Note:

1. If the task is completed then click This To Do has been Completed icon.
2. To remove the task from the To Do list click icon.

The 'Timer' app in Epic is used to set timers and alerts and uses the system time to keep track of your engagements. The alerts can be set to remind you at the designated time. Here you can set an alert with a message, alert tone and can save your alerts.

In Epic the user can access all the popular networking sites like Gmail , Orkut , Yahoo , Facebook , Twitter and all the other major sites/chat messengers.

Through Epic the user can instantaneously view the maps across the world and can get the driving directions for different locations. To get the directions click the 'Maps' icon in the sidebar and enter the Start address and Destination address in the provided textboxes. The map is plotted and can be used by the user.

A Game is a structured activity usually undertaken for enjoyment. Epic has some exciting games which provides entertainment and recreation to the user. The games are categorized into different categories. For example, the first category has nearly 6 Action games embedded in it.
Steps to choose and play a game:

1. Click 'Games' icon in the sidebar to play the games in Epic.
2. In the Action Games section, click the green square button to select the game which you wish to play.
3. On clicking the green button, it will change to yellow button .
4. Click the Play button and wait for some time to let the game to start.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to start the game and to play.

'Collection' app is used to save group of your favorite websites. All the saved websites will be opened with a single click.
To save and open the website in 'Collection' app:

1. Open all the websites for which you want to create collection.
2. Click the Collection icon located at the extreme right of all the tabs.
3. Save the currently open tabs as a Collection window by entering the name and description to the collection of tabs in the sidebar.
4. Click the save button . This will save the collection of tabs with the specified name.
5. In the sidebar now a label appears with the tabs saved. Click the respective Collection label to open all the tabs in one single click.

To edit the stored collection of tabs:

1. Select the group of websites which you wish to edit in the collection sidebar.
2. Hit the right-click on your key board, and then a small window pops up with the name of the collection.
3. Click the Edit button to change the name and description of the group of websites.
4. Type a new name and description in the provided textboxes. Click Save button for the collection to save again.

Note: To delete a webpage in the collection of websites click button. This will delete the particular website.

'Bookmark' app searches and manages all your bookmarks. Keep this sidebar open for easy and unobtrusive access of the bookmarked websites.
To bookmark a web page:

1. Click the Star icon on the top of the page in the tab. This opens a new window with many options.
2. The options are Bookmark this page, Add to a collection, Share on Facebook, Share on Twitter and More Share Options. The user can select any option depending on his requirement.

With the History app , Epic saves your browsing history i.e., the web pages searched and browsed. To delete the browsing history, click Clear Browsing data icon at the top of the Epic address bar. To browse the data in the private mode, click Enter the private browsing mode icon at the top of the Epic address bar.

1. Click Epic App icon in the sidebar of Epic. This will open the window named Epic apps. Click Browse apps tab .
2. In the Browse apps tab, there are list of categories.
3. Click the desired option in the list. This will redirect you to a page with the list referred as sub-category; click the desired option in this list.
4. In the next window, click the Add to Epic button to add the desired option in the list to the sidebar. This will automatically add the app to the sidebar with the respective icon.

To delete the app from Epic sidebar:

1. Click icon in the sidebar of Epic. This opens the window named Epic apps.
2. In the Manage apps tab , select the app you wish to remove, and click the Remove button .

Steps to search the web with Epic:

1. Open the downloaded Epic browser on your system.
2. On the Tools menu, select Web Search and Click web search.

3. This will take you to the web search bar. Type-in the required keyword in the address bar, and hit enter on the keyboard. Then the respective Google links will open in the current tab.

The 'Download' app icon in the Epic helps the user to view, search and manage all his downloads in the sidebar.
To view and manage the download file in Epic:

1. Go to any search engine like www.google.com and type-in the text/keyword in the search bar for which you wish to find the data.
2. The search engine will redirect you to the websites which has the relevant keywords information. Click the link having data according to your requirement.
3. To download the file, click Download the file option. A window pops up with options to Open the file and Save the file. Select Save option.
4. In the Save file window, give the File Name in the text box and click Save. The file will then be saved in the 'Download' sidebar.
5. The file will be saved with 4 options in it in the 'Download' sidebar. They are Open File, Open Containing Folder, Delete File, Remove From List.

Note:

• Select the file you want to open, and click Open file icon to open the image/document in new tab.
• Select the file for which you want to know the path and click Open Containing Folder icon which opens the window where the file is saved.
• Select the file you want to delete and click Delete File icon. A window pop-up with option Delete this comes on the screen, click Ok. Now the selected file is deleted.
• Select the file you want to remove from list and click Remove From List icon to remove the file from the Download sidebar list.

Note: The file/image is removed only from the list, but it is still saved in the system.

When you first start using Epic, you don�t have to start with a blank slate, You can import all your stuff like your browsing history, search engines, bookmarks and passwords from your old browser into Epic. Follow these steps (for Windows):

1. Open Epic browser.
2. Click the File menu.
3. Click Imports.
4. In the Import Wizard window, select the option from which you want to import Bookmarks, History, Passwords and other data.
5. Click Next.
6. In the Select Items to Import section, check the checkbox Bookmarks, and then click Next.
7. Click Finish.

Now all the bookmarks are imported from another browser.

To make Epic your default browser follow these steps (for windows):

1. At the top of the Epic window, click the Tools menu.
2. Click Options.
3. Select the Advanced panel, then click the General tab.
4. In the System Defaults section, select the check box Always check to see if Epic is the default browser on startup.
5. Click the CheckNow button.
6. In the Default Browser window, click Yes to set Epic as your default browser.
7. Click Ok.

Now Epic is set as your default browser.
