Yes you can upgrade your m8s to Android 6, all u need to do make sure u have enough data or connected to a non-stop wifi. Backup your files and wipe out the phone then start the update process. BUT(in the case of my I just leave the phone update auto...

Really there is barometric sensor in it and the sense 7 it's wonderful, I bet you if updated to Android 6 you will come back here and testify.

Honestly if update to Android 6, I mean marshmallows u will definitely enjoy an awesome battery life.
