The way our curtains fell made a pin hole camera. We woke up to find the houses across the road projected onto our bedroom wall!pic.twitter.com/3EcC9egHpG

I've had lots of lovely replies from people sharing their serendipitous camera obscura experiences. Here are a few of my favourites...https://twitter.com/JKingslake/status/1258118477853884416 …

Isn't that a cool surprise? It happened to me once in an old abandoned theater. In the dark old projection room, there was a perfect full-color scene of the liquor store across the street, but upside down. :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camera_obscura …

I remember a trip on a London to Edinburgh sleeper waking to see the passing scenery projected onto the compartment door through a pinhole in the window blind. Beautiful.

We used to rent a space in a 1920s brick building. There was a tiny hole in the wall of a windowless bathroom. I'd go in, shut the door, and turn the lights off to watch the upside down trees blowing in the wind.

This is so very awesome!! I very much want to do this! A couple of photographers I know made their car a camera obscura and drove around Australia taking pictures of the images but with them in it too! I’ll get you the link!

I was also reminded of @peter_heering's work recreating a solar microscope (a room-sized camara obscura where you put a microscope slide in the pinhole / aperture to project it onto a wall). Fascinating stuff! https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/british-journal-for-the-history-of-science/article/enlightened-microscope-reenactment-and-analysis-of-projections-with-eighteenthcentury-solar-microscopes/5AB04415D191DF2024A88BD207FF495D/core-reader … (paywall)

Used to get a lift home from work in the back of a windowless transit van. But, because there was a small rust hole in the bodywork, on bright days the entire route would be projected on the interior wall, like old cine film. So I always knew when we were nearing my stop
