  1. Woohoo! Terraform + VS Code is now an officially supported HashiCorp project. Thanks to our amazing community for starting and curating this project and working with us for the past few months on a transfer process to make this official.

During the pandemic my internet went to crap, I was getting 200/1 (ONE up, not a typo). Just got a 2nd provider installed. Will be setting it up as dual WAN on my UDM pro once my RJ45/SFP+ comes in. Until then, this is going to work. 😅 (This is the fastest it gets in my area)

You know when you need to cast a Go value to a subset of the interfaces it implements? No? I made a library to do it dynamically anyways:

HashiCorp Consul Service on Azure is now available in public beta. Fully managed Consul! I got a cluster up and running and hooked into AKS in less than an hour. Awesome.

The big improvement with the trackpad is that the iPad is now usable to EDIT Google Docs. Previously I’d only ever review or do minor minor modifications. I authored a full 6 page RFC on the iPad today. No problem. Pro tip is to uninstall the GSuite apps though, use the browser.

Half a day of focused work with the iPad Pro + Magic Keyboard and I’m in love. 🥰 It is too heavy, but once you get past that its an amazing addition to an amazing device and the trackpad adds a lot my normal iPad usage. Hopefully some material science wizardry can improve weight

Our education team did a great job here. There is a very clear set of standards we’re looking for to pass and a dedicated track on our Learn site for exam prep.

We’ve had this in beta for awhile (since HashiConf last year when we ran some free in-person trials) and we’re happy to announce the HashiCorp Cloud Engineer Certification Program! Vault and Terraform associate available now, Consul + Advanced coming soon.

The Nomad team had a hack week (actually, not a full week, just 3 days) and look at the incredible things they came up with. See the thread below!

Congrats ! Paul was just promoted to VP Engineering of Terraform. 🥳 I’m super proud and happy for Paul, he joined as a first 10 employee and has been at HashiCorp over 5 years. Its so rewarding to see people grow. I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to work with him.

This post on “Deploys at Slack” is I think the first time Slack has publicly noted their Consul usage. I’ll leave it for if/when they share more, but thanks for being a user!

If you’re in the “lol we don’t need TF we need X” camp: Yes, of course, but quickly & cost effectively spinning up infra resources is helpful for: communications, e-commerce, medical researchers running labs, etc. This is where we’ve been doing what we can with our tools.

We’re rolling out some assistance for organizations who provide aid for COVID-19: free TF cloud, office hours, free 1:1 help. We’ve also been doing direct work (free too) behind the scenes with a few orgs to help if we can!

Vault 1.4 also introduces the “transform engine” which brings Vault into the tokenization market. Existing software in this $2B market category is pretty bad, so I’m looking forward to putting some pressure on it. 😎🔐 Vault’s solution is prettyyyyyy dope.

Big congrats to the Vault team on this. 🎉 They shipped a new built-in replicated data storage mechanism, handled a beta over several releases, built operational tooling around it, and finally shipped GA over the course of about a year. Hard work well done.

Vault Integrated Storage is out of beta and now recommended for production usage. This means you don’t need external storage! (External storage continues to be supported of course). Learn more here:

This is probably a bad idea, but I wrote a library that lets you turn a gRPC stream into a Go `net.Conn`. This is a “because I can” kind of scenario, so don’t expect reasons. 😛

Nomad is our first product outside of Vault to have a real audit log. The exciting thing here is: its sharing libraries to do it and following a standard schema. Other products getting auditing soon, too. Standardizing experiences across our products. 👍
